rb duct w/ k&n typhoon

i have a 2nd gen k&n typhoon on my 8 & was wondering if adding the rb intake duct would make a significant difference in performance. any of u w/ an intake other than the rb install the rb duct & feel a difference?

Sorry i cant help you, but i have been on the fence for awile for an intake. and i was woundering how is the sound do you still have that nice rotory sound how loud is it over stock........I how the 1st gen typhoon was garbage and have been waiting for an honest oppion on the new one..

i think it sounds great... it sounds totally stock until u punch it! the buttdyno tells me that there is more torque throughout the rpm band. that's as much as i can comment.
i'm just looking for info on whether or not it'd make a difference if i added the rb intake duct or not...

You just described the RB Revi Intake.
I'm not sure if the duct would help all that much on the KN Typhoon since I don't think you can connect the duct directly to your intake. Isn't the typhoon an open air intake?
Won't that just bring in cold air but let it get hot as it enters the engine bay? (before being sucked into intake)

I'd be interested to know if this combo would work though...

Off topic: Ever considered selling the K&N and getting the Revi?

i have the k&n, and it definitely gets loud if you punch it. but its bnot an anoying sound, it just totally enhances the unique rotary sound of your engine.i had my brother do a fly by in it and i almost wet my pants, car feels like its got some balls now, seriously.

^^ First generation Typhoon, right?? I've heard that one and it is PRETTY loud.

OR

Do you have the new Typhoon?

jimmy_jammy 03-02-2006 05:47 PM

So.... whats better. Typhoon ver2 or a K&N panel filter?

whatever you like better

jimmy_jammy 03-02-2006 05:57 PM

i mean, performance wise?

cjkim 03-02-2006 06:01 PM

people's butt dynos may tell otherwise, but i don't recall seeing any real noticeable gains from any intakes. butt dynos need to be recalibrated :|

jimmy_jammy 03-02-2006 06:07 PM

has the typhoon v2 just got a back heat plate or is it in a box like the stock?

Tirminyl 03-02-2006 06:55 PM

Heat shield.

You don't think the plastic heats up at all? It will heat up, just not as fast as the metal. But once it gets hot, it will stay that way for much longer than aluminum. Once you get going on the throttle, after a couple of seconds, I bet that the intake air temps would go down a deal faster than plastic, since it heat soaks a bit more.

dgrx8 03-07-2006 08:55 AM

i currently have the k&n typhoon & was thinking of adding the rb duct... but, i'm not sure how much more efficient the setup would be... being that the rb duct & k&n filter wouldn't even line up properly
