Straight through muffllers can be tuned for specific applications just like a chambered or baffled muffler can.

The main difference between the two are the flow characteristics.

One design will typically outflow the other.

Racing Beat does all of their own testing and design work. That's what they are in business to do.

I would say that Racing Beat, Borla, and Greddy make up the lions share of the RX8 aftermarket exhaust market with some Mazda Speed thrown in there.

Thanks for the offers, but the project is completed.

RX-8 owners,

I have received several offers for RX-8 volunteers in the past few days and I have been wondering where they originated! Thanks for the offers, but this project was completed earlier this year.

For those that are asking, Racing Beat fabricates the RX-8 exhaust systems at our Anaheim, CA facility. The canisters and flanges are produced by an outside vendor to our specs, and the subcomponents are assembled and welded in our shop. If anyone wants to stop by for a quick tour, just give me a couple days notice and I can make arrangements.

Here's one for you..... after talking with several RX-8 racers, we are in the process of building and testing a single-canister, single outlet race muffler for the RX-8. We are in the process of configuring the canister, but we hope to have this tested at the track sometime in January or February. (We want to test this at an autocross event in San Diego, but much depends on how far the Chargers go into the playoffs... the race is held in the stadium parking lot.)
