Question Racing Beat Race Pipe

Does anyone have this on? Any thoughts, comments...

How loud does it get with a RB Exhaust...

They just put that up on the site i think. So I'd guess noone has it yet.

"Remove catalytic converter and resonator from the engine completely, and replacing with "cat" replacement tube – max benefit 8 HP – regardless of what muffler is used (or even no muffler)."

Wonder if we could mod this to work.

Yeah most likely, I was thinking about ordering that, but I'm guessing having no resonator its going to be Fkin loud and will just have unecessary attention from police officers..... not sure if this is a myth, but when i e-mail RB about the midpipe they said that it would not throw a CEL..... so that might be one plus!

You're missing the cat, it will throw a CEL.

RX-8 Catalytic Converter Replacement Pipe*
2004-06 – All Models

Racing Beat offers a full 304-stainless steel catalytic converter replacement pipe for RX-8 racing applications. This mandrel-bent 3” OD racing pipe is a direct bolt-on replacement for the stock catalytic converter section. This pipe utilizes a genuine OEM rear mounting flange for a secure fit to the stock (or an aftermarket) exhaust system. (See photo below.) The race pipe is equipped with a sensor fitting for the oxygen sensor. (Note: Placement of the sensor in the pipe will cause the “check engine” light to be illuminated, but performance and engine systems will not be affected.) Each kit is supplied with all mounting hardware and detailed installation instructions

It might have something to do with them now looking into the ecu and noticing that the check light has no effect on the car what so ever..
Just a guess.

it is common knowledge that the missing cat would not cause anything to happen besides the CEL due to emissions requirements. The fuel is already burnt, all that is happening is it's exiting the car. A missing cat isn't going to do anything besides free up your exhaust. The car sees the cat isn't functioning and tells you about it, but there is nothing more it can do.

There's no need to bash them though - their pricing is in line with everyone else's midpipe. As far as why it took so long, they likely had other higher priorities and got around to it when they could. Other's already had midpipes on the market, they just needed to fill out their product line to offer a one-stop-shop.

Has anyone heard or knows where to get and O2 fooler to get rid of the CEL? I saw something on ebay once but can't seem to find it.

I called and it will be about $30 to ship to Miami, I might just ordered it today and see how it goes... I'll keep you all posted...

my take on this is it is header related - soon the header comes they have a complete header back exhaust. so look for the header shortly- they did say august -early september the last i talked to them. actualy from start of induction to exhaust tips you can have all RB pipes. no one else does that here.

www.o2sim.com

I sent the guy an Email and asked if he had 1 that worked for our car. this is what he replyed.

"You can buy universal o2sim and try.If it is not gonna work,i'll give you money back within 30 days of purchase. Most people don't tell me what kind of cars they have.
As far as i know ,universal doesn't work on AUDI,VW,and Sentra 2003+ with SPEC engine.
Thank you."

Maybe this is worth a shot.
