Racing Beat - ECU Development

I noticed they added this to their website :

ECU/PCM Reprogramming
Status: Phase one of this project has revealed very modest performance gains - work is continuing as time allows.

Disconcerting. I hope they are able to crack more of the code and give us some good gains.

I saw that too. I wish there was a time frame on release, but at least a company is actively working on it.

Why not just ECU replacement? We need something like THIS:

It has already been discussed at lengths why a stand alone ECU will not be a good choice for the RX-8. The RX-8 ECU controls more functions than just the motor. You would only be able to do a full stand alone ECU if you are making the car a race-only vehicle. Also with stand alone ECU's you lose OBD II thus won't be able to pass emissions either. the 93-95 RX-7s were made before OBDII was introduced in 1996.

It would be so nice to have an updated ECU program whereby you can push a few buttons to do what you want the car to do at certain times i.e.

Button (1) Stock ECU State

Button (2) Quarter mile racing/Steet racing (Pick up concentrated)

Button (3) Auto x

Button (4) Pure economy mode

I guess this is too much to ask for.

The Wolf ECU hooks up to the stock ECU and intercepts the signals while allowing the others to pass through, like the Canzoomer/Greddy E-manage. The Apex Power FC replaces the entire ECU unit.
