Starting at $6K you have lots of options. All near custom and all not simply a bolt-in.

Quaife catalog: http://www.quaife.co.uk/assets/QuaifeCat0929569.pdf

We are running the 60G with custom bellhousing adapter, custom driveshaft, custom this, custom that. $13K not including the tuning we need to take the lever position and use it as an input for ignition cut.

There are several straight cut dog boxes that I think go for $6K +/- and have high hp/trq capability. I am unversed with these and therefore a bad person to ask.

These guys are well versed and the people we have/are working with:

If anyone suggests a group buy discount for this stuff I will personally hunt you down and skin you alive. I am sharing this info so many of you can understand that there is life outside the stock RX8. Mr. Hill is well aware of this and you should listen closely to his and a few other folks on this forum.

Invest in your car knowlege before you speculate. Do some Google action and learn a thing or two. That ole' boy who made that post that didn't make sense may be 100% correct and his knowledge is generally accepted in more experienced circles. I know a lot of smart dudes that stay away from forums because sometimes you end up arguing with a jagoff. I think this tendancy has been declining on this forum but who knows without data--right.

Happy rotoring and off to the 4th beer. F1 race has Weber leading. Pizza in the oven. Dog looking at me waiting for a slice.

So around 6000$ for a custom straight cut tranny that uses our stock transmission case might to be too bad of a deal..
Thank you for the reply!

New case. This is just for the trans. You'll need a clutch assembly and most likely some fitment items (like a drive shaft, bellhousing mods to mate the trans to the motor), throwout bearing. I've contacted the guy in the know at Taylor-Race.com to provide some info for the forum. Give me a few days and I'll start a new thread.

Good! Then i might tell you our solution, retaining all the stock assemblies (changing just the gears and gear shafts\forks).
We should have the first transmission ready in 3 months for less than a new mazda transmission here in italy. Many guys encounter failures of various kinds here as well and since there's not a huge market we're trying to discover a reliable alternative for a street car driven on the tracks as well.
