Question about exhaust

QUESTION!

is there any exhaust for the rx8 where the sound isnt low wen its low in rpm. i heard the borla exhaust and the sound was very very low unless it was in the high rpms. i was just wonderin if there was one that was naturally high even if it was in the low rpms.

and if there isnt .. what should be done if to have that high sound

would this be bad for the car?

THANKS IN ADVANCE!

learn something about frequency: higher the engine speed the higher the pitch of the tone, and conversely lower engine speeds are similarly lower.

useing an exhaust system where the distance between the end of the tail pipe and the resonator is longer (longer tail pipe), the higher the exhaust note as well.

find a resonator with a smaller internal volume.

it's not going to be bad for the car, but it'll change the exhuast flow characteristics... good or bad, i dunno, it depends, and probably wouldn't have a significant effect on the performance of the engine.

That is a new theory???

I have not heard any change in engine rpm and the frequency of the sound... It must be taking a high note on 9K then :p

I am more thinking the reason being the amount of exhaust gas produce in low rpm is less than high rpm. And the intensity or maybe the pitch of the exhaust noice is from the laminated flow of the exhaust gas creating resonance in the pipe...
Sorry I have not study College Physics for 10 years therefore I am not able to flow in any equation here :p

my borla has a deep low sound even at idle.

It is either due to the green air filter, or the exhaust breaking in and changing note.

Last few secs of this clip shows the exhaust note at idle.

i think i like engines with high sounds. the first time i heard a ferrari sound, i fell in love. i think it was more from the engine but i still wanted that sound. low sound is annoying to me. i hear it all the time on the street and its just so ARGH!!!

I heard the sounds of 360 Challenge in full blast on a race track - it was SOOOO loud and such a high pitch. It is has a lovely note (it is like the F flat) - very nice

I'm kinda w/ Super Tony on this exhaust thing. if we're rolling w/ rotary why not go as far opposite as everyone else in the exhaust note department. Every 4, 6,8 10 goes for the depth. I dunno.......just a thought.......

and as i said before, around a track you're only going to hear the higher pitch because the frequency of the sound is higher (as the frequency of exhaust pulses is higher).

if you're saying you don't want a fart can, then fine, but you're not going to have a race-car type idle 'cause your engine isn't idling at 2000 rpm. any engine at high rpm is going to produce a higher pitch than it will at idle, this is just simple fact.
