Put on the RX8Store catback/midpipe tonight
And I'm very happy with it
Total weight savings was 17.0 pounds for the midpipe and catback. For the midpipe I got the catless/resonated one. No CEL yet, but I'm sure that'll change over the next few miles
As far as sound goes, not too shabby. I expected it to be quite loud, but it really isn't bad. Sure it IS loud, no doubt, but very tolerable. Of course I had an RX7 with a crazy port, straight pipe midpipe and single exit catback, which was insanely loud, so I might just be used to it.
At cruise in 4th gear ~35 mph it's not loud at all, I was surprised. It really only gets loud when starting off from a stop or going WOT to redline.
Definitely felt more powerful and fun, but the sound might be playing into that. All in all I'm quite happy. I'll be getting a video in the next 3 or 4 days when I can get ahold of my friend's cam.

Stock midpipe/cat weighed 23.4 pounds, new catless midpipe weighed 10.8 pounds.
Stock catback, according to my scientific method of me on the scale then me + catback on the scale, weighed 39.6 pounds and the new catback weighed 37.2 pounds. I was hoping for more loss in the catback, because when I was lifting the new catback versus stock it felt more than 2.4 pounds lighter. But oh well, not too big of a deal, I can always get a lighter catback down the road if I care.
And lastly, 2.0 pounds of misc stuff came off that was not reused. This was just me removing some things that I didn't need or care about, which some of you may not do. Extra hangerers, brackets, etc.
So 17 pounds total.

I can snap some pics if you want, video should be getting done tomorrow night I think.
Sounds good, loudest at starting from a stop and WOT, cruise is very tolerable, sound isn't too bad.

That sounds about right. The SR Motorsports hi-flow cat unit (with the resonator) claims about a 12 lb. loss. From hefting the stock unit & the SR Motorsport unit (I got the one with the resonator) it is a huge difference. Even moreso with the RP Supercat (which I have on my car now). The stock catback is a beast. The RB unit felt much more solid, but was heavier. The JIC Titanium (18 lbs.) was again night & day compared to the stock unit (weighed around 39-40 lbs. by everyone).
Okie, videos are in.
They are shitty quality, though, so you'll most likely need to turn your volume up higher than normal to make it realistic. First video is the car idling, then holding it at 3k, then revving to redline a couple times. Second video is driving the car with the windows down and going to about 8k. Again, sorry about the somewhat shitty quality.

Yes I'm going to, didn't have time to, though. Working 40+ hours a week and parting out an rx7, plus a GF and getting ready to go back to school (on spring break) is leaving me with no time.
I did the midpipe and exhaust install during the late night/early morning in between 2 shifts haha. Didn't feel like diving into a header install.

Hey dDuB.....i've got basically the same setup on my car (midpipe is custom). Had it installed last weekend. It really is a night and day difference as far as the sound is concerned. I've heard alot of the aftermarket exhaust that are avaliable for the eight and I must say this is one of the better sounding ones........if you like it deep and loud that is!!!
holy thread revival
i installed the rx7store catback yesterday. looks pretty nice, nice deep sound on the lower half of the rpm, after 5k all i hear is the intake. little dronny on the highway...i guess it will settle down after a while

it did settle downed a bit, or maybe i got used to it...? but theres still some drones...
when i installed it, i saw that the pipe hanger was damn close to the diff, but left it like that, after a couple days, i was hearing some noises and it was this touching the diff in acceleration so i cutted it down a bit (1/2") and now it's fine.
if i had not cat, i'd know when id does back fires, i can hear em fine.
