You of all people who've blown what, 2 motors now, should have been able to answer him. If memory serves me correctly the last one was something on the order of 21 lbs of boost.

But no, rather then answer the question, you think being a smartass is cool. Typical street racer kid. Look at your avatar - gay ****, a new one every week. By golly you're an internet guru of street racers aren't you?

Someone like you will NEVER be in a position to offer someone like me a job. Thats OK, I really don't care what a gay **** street racer punk thinks anyway.
So you're a genius who tries to use the phrase "gay **** street racer punk" to win what could be a technical argument. You're an idiot who spent a couple extra years in college to get another piece of paper so that you could get the job you weren't good enough to get without it. Nothing you've posted in this thread is the result of higher learning. For all we can tell, you're an e-peen waving 14 year old who knows the name of an old crappy spark plug manufacturer. Odds are, I, or someone like I, will be in a position to hirer you or someone like you. That doesn't make me the end all and be all. When is the last time someone in a truly technical field had a boss who even knew what they did in full? If you were on a project that somehow leads to cash, odds are one of the guys in your chain of command is a county college MBA paper pusher. Is that guy the end all and be all?

How many psi can the stock Renesis take? Well, it depends on intake temp, fuel system, usage, supporting mods, and everything else. How about this: how many miles will a stock Renesis last? The answer to that seems to be about anywhere from 5000 to 150000 miles. That's not a very meaningful answer. Someone could go blow a stock engine during break in. Someone might run it out to 200000. The only answer is it depends. 12 PSI on a Greddy sized turbo is getting hot. 12 PSI on a Mazsport turbo probably isn't. On a piston engine, you can calculate the MEP against the crown, pin, and rods and balance that with the reciprocating forces. You can guess at what point you can shear/buckle/snap something. On a rotary, you aren't going to shear a rotor. You are going to crack a seal from either detonating or heat. One can't guess the quality of a tune from a hypothetical question nor were any supporting mods qualified. Heat cycling might as well be black magic unless you want to model the engine.

I would venture the guess to be "10" psi on a Greddy and a little higher on larger turbos, though I can see someone blowing an engine pretty easily on 6 psi. That's this week though. Next week, someone will be boosting 14. Next year someone might hit 20. 28 years from now, we might be pumping 10 atmospheres through this engine hailing it as the end all be all of power because XYZ new fuel control and ABC new seal material makes it the most robust power plant ever.

I like the phrase "end all be all" this morning.

PhD = Pile it Higher and Deeper.

That is one of the things that drives me nuckin futs. The strength of your argument matters, not your resume. By invoking "expert witness" qualifications you are saying "trust me". Well, in a forum full of people who are interested in the "why" of all things automotive, trust me does not work. We all want the details. Well, at the very least I do, before I would trust most anything.

If I had enough fuel, I probably cold have saved that motor. One can only have so much contingency.
Now, if you actually understood any of the things that maxxdamigz said, you would understand how dumb the rest of your assertion is.

No, your education doesn't match my requirements. The guys I've been hiring lately are all robotics grads from Carnegie Mellon and MIT. They are also younger and more relevant.

I didn't take Kartweb's initial post as law, more like a rule of thumb... granted that thumb's probably shoved up something. No offense, but your posts are kind of insulting, but not in a funny way. Probably why this thread went all to crap. Rather than post criticisms, how about trying to add something constructive?

Since you quoted me, I assume this is directed at me.
I would, gently, point you in the direction of post #20.

Yes, I saw that, but I quoted post #10. The context of my post was completely lost in your reply, since I was merely pointing out that sometimes people just immediately blast other people on here, rather than immediately pointing them in the right direction.

Actually, you'd be surprised how sophisticated people are here compared with other forums. With a few notable exceptions, most people will answer your question, even if it's been asked 40 times before, without flaming you.

I'm part of a Houston-Area forum with hundreds of thousands of members, and the average demographic is a 16 year old illiterate mexican boy with a primered-fart-canned-beat-to-****-civic-hatch, posting for his first time to make a thread about whether or not his VTEC fluid is low, and if people think that his cigarette lighter could power 14 neons to go under his car, in his head liner, and on his steering wheel, and whether or not an SSAutochrome turbo kit would make his car break into 9's. [turbo guys will get a kick out of the SSA comment, I hope]

Here at the RX8club, we deal with the other extreme, the pompous ******* with letters after his name.

Ahh.

I suppose my immediate response to his post would seem out of place without knowing his history.
Really, anyone that is as old and educated as he claims to be that uses "gay **** street racer punk" as a legitimate refutation is of dubious value as a human being, anyway.

For instance. This reply:

Obviously shows that he doesn't have a clue. Was the motor that blew prepped for 21 PSI? Does he know what the flow efficiency of the turbo was at that point? Temps? Anything?
Saying that it took 21 PSI to blow a motor without understanding why is like saying that 35 MPH was the cause of an accident.

I'm just not sure how well that phrase is going to fit into my resume when I apply for a job at kartweb's exclusive think tank.

I can't figure if I should put the emphasis on "gay" or "punk".

I don't think that subscribing to this thread is going to be particularly rewarding.
There have been others with claims of "knowledge" far more entertaining than this one.

Another PSI thread is about as useful as an MPG thread.
