Pro's and Con's of Various Exhausts: Greddy, Borla, Magnaflow, MS

Been doing a bit of research after "hearing" a sweet sounding 8 with Magnaflow on here. It did in fact whistle like a higher end car which was impressive.

When looking at some others it's apparent the Greddy is probably the prettiest (full chrome - ominous) from the back and I've heard quite a bit about Borla and MS too.

Would love to get some condensed opinions on this thread to help those like me in progress with a decision. I'm leaning towards Magnaflow for that "sound" but feel free to convince me otherwise.

Big Con with the Racing Beat unit - it's too quiet. It's barely louder than stock. If that's a good thing for you, fine. When following my car in my wife's truck with the windows up, I can't but BARELY hear the exhaust on the rx8.

^ I concur, but with a superCat or midpipe it is perfect.

Just like my Hymee was before I got the superCat....

i have borla, it sounds nice but I don't like the way the pipes are designed. They don't seem optimal for air flow.

borla has always been known to have great flowing exhausts... prolly one of the best on the market

*shrug* The design of the borla doesn't seem as free flowing as those that have a midpipe into a Y shaped split, then into two cans, and then directly out the car. That's a lot less turns and more direct to the outside of the car.

All exhausts except for Turbo XS:
-Pro: Look good, sound good (each with their own specific tone)
-Con: Hardly any performance gain for the several hundred dollars you spend on it.

Turbo XS Exhaust:
-Pro: Great performance compared to anything else available.
-Con: Looks like ***.

I just got my Magnaflow cat back exhaust put on this past tuesday and I love it. I have nothing but great things to say about the exhaust system. The sound is incredible and the look is awesome. The tips are def a good size for the 8 and it totally makes the back end meaner.

My hats off to magnaflow! I dont think you could go wrong with getting a magnaflow cat back for the 8. If you have any questions about my exhaust, feel free to pm me.

I think the tips on the Greddy don't look good. That big lip on the end, not to mention it is the biggest, just doesn't seem too right.

It will get you 2whp just like the other exhausts. There are plenty of threads about it.

yes,
but the pipe that leads to the muffler is larger than the rest of the cat backs..

think about it.... the muffler and the two 2.5 inch exits can handle it fine....

just something i noticed...

Turbo XS would so have the market right now if they just built nicer tips. Im starting to like the Agency exhaust though. I just want to hear some sound clips and see some dyno results since they are claiming that they are making a good amount of HP.
