Performance packages
Hey all,
I would love to get some advice on this
RX8 packages
Check out the attached link, and let me know what you guys think. $2000 for an extra 40 hp... kinda steep, but I think it could be worth it.

SR Motorsports' results are the subject of debate here and most of us don't believe it. The fact of the matter is that unless you have an ecu upgrade, you aren't getting 40 more horsepower with just bolt-ons. 40 horsepower is possible, just not like that. Get an ecu upgrade for less than $1000 and get close to that. Doesn't that sound like a better deal?

Thanks for the info... after doing a search on the boards about Canzoomer ECU upgrades, I decided to do some web browsing on the topic. Unfortunately, other than yahoo postings on message boards and other posts on this site, I cant find any information on them. Can anyone fill me in on a good place to pick up something like this?

Canzoomer is the forum name of a member (Maurice) on this board. That's why you won't find him anywhere else on the net very easily. He has his own section of the forum. Here's a link:
https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-engine-tuning-forum-63/
Ric Shaw from Australia also makes a nice ecu but it costs a little more. Here's a link to their site:

The third option that has been done is to use the Greddy eManage system. Do a search here for a member named MazdaManiac. He's done all the work with this unit and it costs less than half of the other 2 and apperas so far to have the same capabilities.
Canzoomer supplies his with the necessary maps already loaded in to give you a nice power boost. The others need to be tuned by the user.
After you have a way to tune your car to it's full potential with what it has, then you can worry about upgrading intake and exhaust. Why change them when the car is maxing out their potential now?
Hope this helps.

I have a hunch that messing with the ECU would pretty much scrap the warranty on this thing. I would rather stick to conventional NA mods. So other than the SR Motorsports stats being a little skeptical, is it a good or bad hookup? I am actually intested in putting in a cold air intake, but have heard a few horror stories about people drooping in the wrong one and actually screwing up thier hp. Any tips on a reliable brand with fairly good hp upgrades? Naturally I am talking about exhaust, cc as well. Thanks.
Money isnt really a big issue, I just dont want to throw my warranty out the window.

Canzoomer's ECU piggyback is completely removeable. No cutting or anything required. It leaves no trace, as long as you are careful with installation/removal. It's easier to remove than an intake (to me) and gives alot more benefit.
Intake is a good excuse for them to not service any engine issues also.. although one mod is not enough for them to entirely refuse to work on your car.
