Unhappy Oh my, please no...

I may have just fudged up big time....

I turned my car into service this morning to fix the A/C leak drenching my passenger floorboard, while its in there I figure I'll get some other **** checked out too since I'll most likely get a rental right?? yeeeah

So I tell the adviser I've been noticing that first gear goes in hard with a loud click, and fifth gear does the same every time I shift into it either from neutral or from fourth gear. Synchros mayhaps?

Unfortunately I didn't stop to think, oh yeah I should go ahead and switch out my AF short shifter with my stock shifter before I turn this ****** in.

And now it sits, to be evaluated for transmission problems (shift issues) with a third party aftermarket shifter in it.

How ruined am I ? Has this ever happened to anyone else?

all you can hope is that they never really "notice" the short shifter ...

this is what I was hoping

unfortunately this scenario could possibly result in a new tranny with a stock shifter

of course being out 280 bucks is much better than being out a warranty

I have 70,000 miles on my AF shifter so I wouldn't think it was that. But the dealer can say otherwise. You should go there with a couple of Pizza's this afternoon. The mood of the service writer will determine the outcome.

I could get lucky with this writer.... he didn't even flinch when I told him not to worry about the CEL if it was just an o2 sensor as it was probably just gunked up from the RP supercat I've got on there

*crossing my fingers*

My warranty was not voided due to my AFE shifter. The first time I took it in, the dealership claimed the 2nd gear grinding issue was because of the short shifter. So, I put the stock one back on, and went back. Same issue. Long story short, it took me 11 months, but finally had my tranny rebuilt last month.

Check the it out. Its the law. They have to fix it unless they can prove the mod fucked it up. So Mazda can "document" all they want but it wont make there winners any bigger lol

One of these days I want to bring my car into the dealer and claim it has a "loss of power" issue. I don't want to let them drive it though. I think if my driver's seat broke, it would still be warranteed but that's about it.

^^ They did void mine for the RP Super cat. It's so much fun to have your warranty denied!

Yeah but when they say, we don't have to prove anything to you you'll have to take us to court. What's your recourse then? I gave up cause A) there is/was nothing wrong with my car, B) I don't have the cash to take mazda to court, let alone replace an engine.

I kind of find it funny people think the Magnuson Moss act will magically make the dealer do what's right.

You should hopefully be okay. My dealership has seen the AFE shifter and never even flinched; then again, I do have a pretty good relationship with the service writers and I always bring them bagels when I need something done.

Now I understand this law, and I understand the fact that they can just say, come to court and we can settle it there (which is a douchey thing to do, but oh well). So if you have an extensive list of mods, everything from sways, an AFE shifter to a Cobb AP and an exhaust, and maybe even an aftermarket flywheel, do you need to make ALL your **** stock for them just to accept it no problem?

no.

just stock to whatever they say is causing the problem. ie; if transmission is busted, no need to remove sways, etc.

what you can do is, take them to the small claims court

or if u have mechanical coverage from geico, you can tell Geico about the problem, have them fix it, and tell them to go after Mazda. Trust me Geico will do everything to MAKE SURE that they get "their" money back LOL

in the end u might have to pay a little bit of money, but the most is like 250 bux (thats the deductible for coverage).

I find it strange that they can void your warrenty due to exhaust. I have no cat and aftermarket exhaust and my Mazda dealer didn't care. I took my car in due to a rough idle and loss of power and they still did the decarb for free under warrenty. I guess it depends on the dealer.
