i had the super cat before i switched over to catless. there is definitely a power difference between the two, but difference aint much. all i can say is the numbers that d-tune magazine obtained from the dyno is pretty accurate because i have close to the same parts, but a little more and dynoed a little higher.

So they gained 16.5 whp and 6 lb.-ft. tq., seems better than I had expected based on the very pessimistic attitude most people seem to have towards power increases. I realize other cars may achieve higher gains from similar mods, but still, I had been left with the impression that those sorts of changes would gain barely any power and are really for cosmetic reasons and improved sound.
I don't know much about mods, especially for the RX8, beyond what I've read on this forum so I have one question. Can most people realistically feel the difference that 16 whp and small torque increase brings? Would you notice it day, to day compared to a stock RX8?

I can believe it. When I took the mid-pipe out of our RX8 and put the stock cat back in, the dyno showed only a difference of 5WHP & .5WTQ.. Why? I dont know, but it did..

Re:
They are doing another test and tune on the RX-8 for RB flash and grounding kit, but that is not going to be next month's issue, but the April issue, next month is going to be test and tune on Evo9 with BPUs.
BUT, next month's issue will have coverage of Sevenstock 10 from September with pics, so be on the look out for that.

Momentum Keeps Me Going
The biggest issue I have with this read/upgrade comparison so far is that all these torque and HP numbers thrown around are really fairly meaningless without dyno curves; e.g., 15HP extra at say 8500rpm is nice, but 15HP over a good part of the rev range lower down too is far more interesting and useful on track or highway maybe dynos are shown in the mag itself?
Can't wait for the RB flash addition, and someone should tell them to add the Mazsport Ignition Solution. I think that pretty much would cover any available useful pnp NA power upgrades for all intents and purposes.

They have the dyno curves in the magazine. You just have to go out and buy it. Getting high horsepower in the low rev range from this car with NA mods are unrealistic. With NA mods on ANY car, on pretty much any motor they accentuate the base engine's power delivery. So if you look at our car's standard dyno, it is still a 9000 RPM engine that delivers power & tq. on the top end. The NA mods only increase that.

Just got a photo on my camera phone of the article, so it is not really a great picture. You would be better off running down to the local bookstore & looking at the mag.
