my JIC full titanium exhaust
my JIC full titanium exhaust
What a great exhaust!! I don't know if it was worth the price but the sound of it is amazing! I never liked loud exhaust so I'm very glad that I got this one. It's not as loud as the Racing Beat either (like mikeb said), just with an aggressive low rumble, but a little louder at higher RPMs. But there's one problem, the exhaust shop that stuck it on, made one of the tips stick out more and hang a bit lower than the other side.
I asked if they could fix the hangers or anything because it shouldn't be like that, just because it was made for our cars. He said no, the hangers are titanium and he cant do anything. wtf?! It's not *******! So I got pissed and called VividRacing, they called JIC, and in 30mins they called me back. They said the shop needs to adjust a few bolts and it would of been fine. What a crappy *** shop. I'll take it back tomorrow though. Here's one pic for now because my camera's battery died. :p
you can see the tip sticks out an inch more and hangs about half an inch lower
matches the paint sorta (i know i did a bad wax job)

That is a titanium tip... it is mean to look like this.
Sweeeeeeet. That is what I have to say. Really nice.
If you put sound clip there, I will drop dead.
Tell me how it sounds after 6 months OK?!

ooo, finally something different. I believe someone else posted with a titanium exhuast too this must have cost you a bundle. That sucker must be light! But isn't there a durability issue with titanium exhausts?
Yeah, it cost a lot money about 1300. Nothing but the best for my baby! It is a lot lighter than stock about 10-15lbs difference. Titanium is a lot more durable than stainless steel, it doesn't bend as easily.

always take what is said by those trying to make a profit with a grain of salt... the only real way to know is a before and after dyno on the same car at the same time. this i've never seen.
while i highly doubt 12whp from exhaust alone, i also doubt that the max possible is 5hp

Not with what I have seen and heard from my mechanics who has 30 years of experience. It will rust and last 2-3 yrs usually. There are 4 shops that sells Ti exhaust that said that.
It may be 7-8kg that you saved... I have 7-8 kg around my waist that I can get rid off too!
EDIT: ti looks and sounds so nice that it is out of the world but I doubt it will be like that in a few years. --- you might want to change to another car by then so... doesn't matter lar.
I wanted to comment on the issue of titanium. I don't think the exhaust system is made of pure titanium. It's probably an alloy, most likely of a Ti-Al type. Pure titanium probably has more of a tendency to corrode. My belief is adding aluminum into the matrix further strengthens the material, as well as add some corrosion resistance.
Stainless steel may be a bit heavier than titanium alloy, but it features excellent corrosion resistance. It's also easier to weld.
Neither material is better than the other. You need to also consider how well heat is transferred away from the engine via the pipe and the surface. A three-dimensional heat equation can solve that. I'll also throw in Fick's laws of diffusion because I'm an ***.
Hope this puts things in perspective. It's a nice exhaust oxy2gn. Nothing but the best for your car.

BTW,
The standard RX8 exhaust is 17.4 kg (about 38.25 lbs.). JIC is claiming their titanium unit is 4.1 kg. (or about 9 lbs.) for a total saving of about 29.25 lbs. Pretty good. That in itself is equal to about 1.5-2 hp (on top of the 3 hp gained). Weight savings is always good, just are you willing to pay the price for it.
