MS sport exhaust installed!!! Luvin it

Hey everyone. I just finished installing my MS sport exhaust and it is awesome. It's just what I was looking for. At idle you can hardly tell it's there but when you get on it, it has a very rich sound to it. Couldn't be more happy.

I agree. I absolutely love mine. It let's you know there's a rotary under the hood. I would recommend this exhaust to anyone.

I had mine installed today, loving the sound ... but I am having some issues w/ the mount. The right muffler tip is slghtly elevated, moreso than the left. The tech at mazda was a really cool guy and told me some stories about his first car [rotary pickup] among other RX series vehicles he had the pleasure of owning and working on. He also, however, told me that it appears the right mufflers rear hanger [I assume] was welded on a little too low, causing the right tip to rise. It is a difference of 1.5+ inches max but I think it is starting to get to me.

=/

if the tips aren't aligning properly the hangers need to be bent to correct the positioning, exhausts are not always just slap it in and send them out the door

sorry to change subject... but when you say "At idle you can hardly tell it's there but when you get on it, it has a very rich sound to it" is it still quiet under normal driving conditions? i.e keeping it under 4k rpm?

Thanks

Thats what he said, he also said that the metal used for the hangers is to "stout" for him to bend properly. Would this sort of thing require that the exhaust is removed from the vehicle and then reinstalled ???

If he is talking about the dual muffler joint ... you can hear it if you are giving it gas. There will always be a difference. It has a tasteful sound though, nothing obnoxious, but you can hear it.

I am going to give my honest opinion on this exhaust for you, and this is coming from a 26 year old guy. You know it is there with any amount of gas you give it. At idle you barely hear it, just like when the exhaust is cold, but once it warms up it is very aggressive. If you take your foot off the gas, or you are on flat ground the sound goes away for the most part, but as soon as you press the gas it come to life. Now if you go WOT, then this thing sounds almost like some sort of exotic car, at least that is what I think. Now, the only drawback I have is how loud it seems to be in the 2.5k-3.5k rpm range, seems to have a drone to it, but if you don't drive in that range (or shift and let the rpms fall into that range) then you will be ok with it.

I would love to hear a flyby clip of this exhaust, so I know what other people on the road are hearing. I would obviously supply this clip myself, but I don't have anything to record with, so if someone has time and would like to record something cool like that it would be appriciated.

I might do it today after work, but again we are not quite sure exactly which exhaust he is talking about. I have the dual muffler setup and it sounds grate. Also have a sony digi-cam that should do the job.

All he said was sport exhaust, there are two of those. One with an ugly giant single muffler similar to OEM and the dual that we know and love. I will make a drive by and redline vid of the Dual but I would assume that is the one he is talking about when he says sport exhaust, b/c the other one is just gay.

Brice-RX-8 hit the nail on the head. I've had mine installed for a couple weeks now and it's exactly as he described. I've accepted that pretty much any aftermarket exhaust is going to be louder and drone at least a little in certain RPM ranges. Personally, I'd like it to sound like a 350Z or G35 exhaust, but then again the rotary does have its own sweet note. We'll just have to compromise a little on the sound with aftermarket systems, for now. But the MS dual exhaust does sound nice -- almost exotic -- and you can keep it subdued until you go WOT. Then it just roars...

you guys are really tempting me now! Im ready to fork out the money for this.... Is the diameter of the MS (dual) exhaust tips larger than stock? and can you feel any performance gains from it.

Yes I am talking about the dual muffler MS exhaust. And as far as any gains.... I would have to say that it is probably all in my head but it does feel like it has more pick up. Probably just a result of spending $600 though. But who know's. All I know is that it sounds amazing and it turns heads because of it's different yet exotic sound.

You spent 600 ? Where did you buy it from ? Well actually I suppose after install mine came to around 600, but as far as performance gains, the Ear & *** dyno agree, MS dual muffler exhaust is good to go like ****** taco bell !

[caution: real life performance gains may not exist in reality or may be extremely nominal]

Just wanted to add one more thing, you will also get a lot more backfiring (pops) from the exhaust if you are slow with the shifting, or at least I do.

You can fit the stock exhaust's tips in the tips on the MS DF setup
