Mid pipe
So my check engine light is on, and I went to get it looked at, and they said it's my cadalytic converter. I went looking for one, but I couldn't find one anywhere. I called mazda, and they said it would cost $1400-$1500 for a new one. Before my light came on, I had been thinking of putting a mid pipe on my car. I guess now I have a good reason too lol. So anyway, I need a mid pipe, and was wondering if anyone had any brands they would recommend.
Thanks.
Thanks.

they have the non-resonated. the dual resonated isn't out yet according tho their website. and there's no mention of a single resonated as far as i can tell.

Before you go and spend any money, realize that the federal emissions warranty is 8 years and 80k miles. If you are below this then get Mazda to give you a new one.
If you want to stay stock and are over 80k miles, I'm sure you can find a used catalytic converter on here in the for sale forums.
If you are just using this as an excuse to spend money on a midpipe then the above suggestions would be fine. Also look into the BHR midpipe.

You do realize that even if you get a midpipe, you will still have the CEL right ?
Your best bet if you want to lose the light is an RP Supercat.
Also, are you not under warranty anymore. The warranty, even on 2004's was extended.

Removing the CAT or Midpipe is quick and easy if you have a garage and the right equipment.

Yeah, you can get the Accessport & clear it, but if he is wincing at the $1400 replacement cost of a new cat, I would think the guy might not want to go that route of spending more money, even if he gets more benefit with an Accessport.

I am running on racing Beat DR midpipe 200 more miles and the pipe will clock in at 2,000 miles. With a spacer between the sensor and the pipe, I have not have one cell yet. Knock on wood! I'll see how long it will last before the cell come on.

By the way,
It's stink as hell and when cold, my car leave a trail of smoke like the Navy Blue Angel F16 perform!!! This is a warning to all that thinking of getting a mid pipe. My car however do feel like an F16 at the pilot seat though.

Agree with you. I was mainly responding to the question about whether or not the pipe was available.

So, I have a question, has nobody tried to create a simulation circuit to take in the first O2sensor output and flip it on the second 02 sensor as a clean output? And I am not talking about an ECU firmware application, I mean a circuit to hook into the second 02 serial port and just mimic the first 02. I am an engineer so i am starting to map out this circuit, but there is no point in me putting in the time if someone else has already done it.

It's hit & miss on our cars. Some people get the CEL immediately after a midpipe install, some get it after a bit of time, some never get the CEL with a midpipe. With his car already having it, I might guess it would trip it with a pipe.
