Mazdaspeed short shifter vs. RP short shifter

Hey guys,
which is better -- cost/performance

RP short shifter or the Mazdaspeed short shifter?
How much is the distance reduced -- and what are the prices for each -- and how is the install for these units?? DYI or Go to a shop and pay cash??

thanks.

Richard's is half the price, the throw reduction is the same or a little shorter, you'd need ten thumbs to stuff up the install.....just do it.

i've never heard that expression before. Then thumbs to stuff up the install -- as in i'll just need to use both my hands to install it -- and it's not that hard of an install? I like that expresssion actually. WHere can i get the RP shifter? From racing beat?

I think "you'd need ten thumbs to stuff up the install" means "you'd need to be all thumbs to screw up the install." (The mods need to turn on the Universal Translator for the posts from countries with foreign languages - like Australia. :D )

Gear box noises after installing short shifter

Hey guys

I installed the short shifter and just love the difference.

Only one problem.. the gear box noises.. a lot of gear box noise. (sort of whining sound first second gearc the most -> I removed the felt boot inside and it helps a little..)

It is just very annoying...

Maybe there has already been a thread about that ?

Thx

Click on the thread below. At post 320 I do a review of the installation. Read the whole thread if you're up for a little history lesson.... . Loosen your gearknob a bit to reduce the gear noise a little more. Then turn the stereo up a bit.....and buy a good aftermarket exhaust. Rasputin will hook you up with what you need.
