Keep in mind too that if you're comparing apples to apples, Mazda claims 0-60 in 5.9 seconds with the 8. We'll see what C&D ends up getting when the test the MS6, but I'll bet its slower than 6.2.

Also, while the regular 6 does handle very well for a "Camry-class car"...which is exactly what it is designed to compete with....I find it difficult to believe it can compete with the 8 in the handling or feel department, regardless of what Mazdaspeed does to it. Of course, I could be biased :D

It's still a toss up since the 6 will more than likely get better gas mileage. Plus the turbo is making 15 psi, so how long will the engine last at that boost? damn it, back to square one. That winning blue does like damn sexy.

True, I wouldn't expect it to handle as well or feel as well balanced. The damn wheels are a turn off as well. I'm just glad Mazda is making some great cars across their lineup right now and I hope they can pull some great advertising out of their *** to help get their image up and sell even more cars. I do like the all wheel drive, but 3600 lbs is a big negative.

Power isn't an issue, it's weight. That was the main reason I bought my Base 6MT. There's nothing lighter than it. I'm sure even shedding 40 lbs can drastically improve acceleration times. Every little bit helps.

Don't look at a car based on how much power the engine produces. It's not producing peak power throughout the entire powerband. Otherwise, the car wouldn't accelerate.
I totally agree.

350Z is just as quick as RX-8 in many track. Yes it may be a second quicker but 60ps gain will eat stock 350Z on the track.

I track my car a lot and I think it can handle 60ps more, not the 350Z.

On the same idea.... it is much cheaper to get 60ps from a 350Z though. In Melbourne there is a twin turbo 350Z kit (for AUD$1400) and it will bring to 400ps. It still handle ok. :o

An add on thought:

Buy don't you buy an EV0 8. Nothing beat for an EVO 8 in terms of money, ease of mod, handling and power. You just have the scarify with class. I love the EVO --- but only on the track, not the rest of the time it is on the public road.

PLEASE. respect from who? other weenies street racing? Who cares? The 8 already has major respect most everywhere since it DID win the Grand AM cup it's first year out, has gotten on multiple 10 best lists (and now some of them for the second year in a row), and has sold above expectations. I dont know who's respect your looking for, but they sound pretty lame to me. There will ALWAYS be a faster car out there. Live with it.

Also, A lotus Elise is 190HP crank. Are you saying it gets no respect? It will demolish all the cars you listed on a track BTW. So much for lightweight not being a valid argument.
When I was at the JGTC last week at the California speedway, I noticed that lots of people stopped by the RX club coral and were taking picture or RX7/RX8 :D . I didn't see this happening with the gazillion of subaru STIs there .
I think there is definitely some respect for the RX8 already, more power would just be the icing on the cake.

Well like I stated before, if you want a car the is fastest from streetlight to streetlight, you are missing the point of the 8. I live in CO and love to drive in the mountains through the twisties, and I am sure there are alot of others out there that like that as well. If you want a drag car or a light to light car then be my guest in getting an AWD turbo car. "most people" dont want or need a light to light car if they are looking at the 8. Most people that have rotaries love the engine, the super high redline, the way the car handles. If mazda wants the MS to be more like the M cars, they will do it the Mazda way, which is not raw HP/0-60 or a 1/4 mile at a time. I used to love running my 84 GSL-SE up through the mountains roads and being able to corner better than cars 10-15 years newer!
