I see that it is only for Japan ... For NOW.

I would assume that it will be coming to the good 'ol USA sometime.

Per the article, it seems they tweeked it consideralbly, and was just wondering if anyone has seen the actual specs. MazdaSpeed has gotten out of this Rotary .

Maybe the missing HP plus some?

Mazda plans to unveil a Mazdaspeed version of each of its models starting with the Mazdaspeed MX-5 Miata in March of 2004 followed by the Mazdaspeed 3 and Mazdaspeed 6 later in 2004. I've gotta believe that a U.S. Version Mazdaspeed 8 would follow as well later next year or early into 2005. Maybe they'll make the announcement just before announcing that the next Generation RX-7 will follow later in 2005 or early 2006. We'll see. I'm personally wondering if Mazda is using the Mazdaspeed line as a premium brand just as Lexus is to Toyota and Acrua is to Honda. We'll see. Either way, the possibilities are endless. It would be nice to see a strong Mazdaspeed presence in the U.S.

The website said that the Mazdaspeed RX-8s will be limited to a sales volume of 300... is that the yearly or the total production? Either way, that isn't a lot, so don't expect to see them in the U.S. And if they do come to the U.S. (2005 calendar year at the very earliest), I would expect them to have pricetags between $40,000 and $50,000.

Mazda is NOT using Mazdaspeed as a premium brand...
There using it as:

Nismo - Nissan
TRD - Toyota
AMG - Mercedes-Benz
SRT - Dodge
..ETC.....

It will probably rev higher to create more power.. they mentions some electronics.. so im thinking make it rev 9500 or 10000 RPM... and tweaked out the car... it mustr have atleast 280 HP... im quessing... the suspension...handling... overall performance should be better... hope it kills the NISMO 350Z... haha...

Hmm... so will the Mazdaspeed *body kit only* be available in the near future?

I'm currently considering the purchase of an 8, and I totally fell in love with this body kit

http://car.kak.net/bilder/mazda/mazda_rx8-105s.jpg

Any ideas if I will be able to get this installed by the dealer by the time I actually make the buy (early march?)

Thanks guys... great forums btw.

a dumb question i am sure

can anyone here tell me if they are selling MS versions at the dealerships or is that something you need to special order.

is it a body kit or what? can anyone here tell me where to read about the MS and the normal versions or where i can see pics of both for a comparison?

The kit, as well as less expensive knock-offs, are already available....

As far as I know, the Mazdaspeed version of the '8 is only available in kit form now. It's mainly a body kit, but there are some suspension goodies and an exhaust too. Most of your questions about specifics will be answered by reading through this thread.
