Does anybody have an idea when NA Mazda Operations is going to import MAZDASPEED products and okay our dealers to install the parts (as to not void the warranty). I'm considering just purchasing the MAZDASPEED flywheel from Japan and having some mechanic install it. Should anything happen to the engine I would have the old flywheel put back on before making a warranty claim.

Do you think this scam is feasible? The problem is my RX-8 will be taken in for regular dealer maintanance. Do you think they would be able to tell I had an aftermarket flywheel somehow? How hard is it to see? Thanks.

 

Dont waste the money on mazdaspeed flywheel. There are a few companies that are coming out with one that are alot cheaper. There is a hole in the bell housing that you can see the flywheel, but the clutch is bolted to it and Im sure the dealer wouldnt be able to tell the difference.
I would also wait to do the flywheel when you need to do a new clutch. Save you money in the long run.
