You would have to cut that off, grind it down, machine a new support and have it welded in the exact location on the other side then finish of the bar to make it look stock... That is a allot of work...

Ok folks, stupid question time. I suppose I could just go look but I'm being lazy today. Anyway, what is the point of the master cylinder brace? I mean yeah, it's cool, but is there any reason it needs to be there? Far as I can recall, the stock strut tower brace has no master cylinder support, and the car works fine without it. Why add one? Why not just cut it off of the JDM 4 point brace and be done with it?

The reason I was asking about it is because the MazdaSpeed literature mentioned the brake brace. After some research (I can't remember where) I found out it is used because the stock firewall is very thin. This causes the entire brake system to flex when a lot of pressure is applied to the braking system. Even with new brake lines and new fluid the brake pedal feel can be loose at the limits. This bracing system used in both the Japanese 4 point and US spec 2 point strut tower brace supports the braking assembly and promotes better brake pedal feel and response when pushed hard. I'm not sure it's necessary, but when you look at my other car ('86 Grand Prix) you'll know that I'm all about pushing things beyond what is "necessary." And if MazdaSpeed felt it was necessary in both US and J-spec cars, I want it used.

To answer the question:

Omicorn: From the fitting, I don't think there is too much pressure on the brake brace. I fit quite easy with a thumb pressure it goes in. It is assisting but I doubt is the KEY function. Can be omitted I think.

i instal the 4 point front bar from mazda speed and i cut the stop master cilinder, tumoro i have to instal the stoper but there is just 1 person in andorra ho works good with aluminium.

Quite frankly, this thread is about MazdaSpeed 4 point bar.

 

Hey I thought the forums were for sharing, it's a 4 point bar so that makes this a valid post and folks may not have seen this one. It's in Canada and at just $200 including shipping it's a potential alternative to those folks that may be reading this but don't want to shell out for the Mazdaspeed, or don't want to be cutting the master cylinder bracing off.

Sorry if you feel I crashed your thread, good to know the spirit of sharing is alive and well, jeez.

Not sure about that rear tie, I had the same question. But it sure looks interesting.

On your comment about plenty of options. Here in the US there are not that many chassis braces yet, or at least not that I have heard discussed on the forums or seen on the net. I was excited to find this site, especially given the prices.

I am going to have to get under the car and figure out if it's worth the $100. I much prefer that to taking up trunk space with a rear strut tower bar.

What are your thoughts..

A friend pointed out that they may be using the hangers behind the muffler's drum. I have not seen an aftermarket exhaust does not use this... certainly mine does!

So if you have stock or afterexhaust like mine - it is not going to be able to put it in...

I think I get your point but could you suggest anywhere in US that have cheap shipment to Australia - anything I order can double the price due to the shipment cost... stupid USPS and UPS isn't it?

Cost $22 for shipping an oil cap... you figure that out.

Even shipping the strut and sways from Japan via EMS only cost AUD$300

You will not see my trustration ... It is frankly too far from US. So do you when you order from Japanparts... the EMS cost will kill you!
