Flywheel

I had the MS flywheel installed. I like it. It revs faster and is alot smoother. But here is the kicker my dealer had his top man install in about 1.5 hrs.......and they charged me $600 labor. I agrued with them but they say the rates come from a book they use that takes the average time. BS........

Yeah, a lightened flywheel is a good addition to the car, that only makes it a little more difficult to drive. The difficult part of it is that you have to drop the tranny to install it, which is no easy task. And install usually cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $400-$600 for the install.

MS is chromoly. Skip the dealer and their fees. Get a ACT prolite flywheel. Then, take it to a place that will charge $350 for the install. My mechanic did it for that, I just wish I had the prolite. The MS isn't as agressive as it should be.

Only problem is that when you go through an authorized MS dealer for the install it is still covered under warranty. If you get something else (I have the Sr Motorsports unit) & have somebody else install it & there is an issue. It is not covered under warranty.

Heh, I resemble that remark ! :D Yeah I pretty decided to give up my warranty the day I ordered my turbo. It's been downhill since then.

I have the MS Flywheel installed and I like it. It makes the engine rev up much easier and shifting is much smoother, so I can get to the higher RPM power band faster. I don't think it makes the car ANY BIT harder to drive, in fact it almost seems easier to drive. However don't expect some giant power increase with the MS flywheel. It's smoother and does rev faster, and although it's noticeable it's not a giant increase in speed or power. I had mine installed by my dealer. They charged me $450. I was considering a different flywheel like the RB or ACT, however the fact that I am still covered by warranty made me lean towards the MS.

well unless you blow the motor i don't think they will ever know you have a diffrent flywheel installed. usually though if you are bothering with a flywheel you got a lot of other crap that'd get their attention first.
