Major LAG with power!! HELP!!

Hi guys ...I'm having a lot of trouble moving my car.. when i change gears (first and second only) it takes about 4-4.5 x 1000 rpms just to get it moving without it losing power. But if i try to run it below that rpm (4-4.5 x 1000) there is a major power drag...which will not let me move my car until i reach at least 5 thousand rpms.

someone told me to get a intake manifold for my car to replace the stock one. will that help? and if it does which should i get??

Thank you in advance.

Sounds like timing .... or a really bad slipping clutch.

And no, an intake manifold will do nothing for you.

Why do you need an intake manifold? There is nothing wrong with our manifolds. Noone even mass produces one for our car. Unless you got some really serious mods, a manifold will do absolutely nothing for you... if anyting, might make your car worse.

Yes, tranny = transmission
That is also where your clutch is located.
Power comes from the motor, through the clutch to the tranny to your wheels (in lamens term). If your clutch is slipping then you're not able to get the power to your wheels efficiently... and if your clutch goes bad... then you're not going anywhere.

And no it is NOT a good idea to replace your intake manifold, like I said before, noone even makes one, unless you get one custom made.

Is this your first manual transmission car? How long have you been driving stick shift?

^^lol^^ yeah you need to be more specific... when your stoped and you release the clutch (pedal on far left) and stomp on the gas does it move right away or does the motor rev without moving the car? and have you noticed any foul odors coming from the car while driving? is so the smell is a dead giveaway for a burnt out clutch.

Guys... it could be the intake ports getting stuck. The ports open up around the RPM range that OP stated, it can be that.

no this is not my first transmission car .. my first was actually the rx7 second gen but that ran perfectly.. its just this car is alil different.. and i been driving stick for about 3 years.. so i got a good handle on "driving" but my car is just acting a lot weirder then it should..

ok ill try to to explain the problem as thoroughly as possible. when i put the car in first gear and release the clutch to where the car will move ( but not all the way out) i step on the gas (but not flooring it) it moves but rite after (about 2 seconds) it has a huge power lag that my seems to not be moving at all but after stepping more more gas into the engine and trying to raise the rpm too about 5000 then the power starts to come back and moves the car. but it happened a couple of times that i would be stuck at a stop sign with this happening and another car would be close to hitting me. ... not guys if there's anything else u need to know please tell me.. i want this problem out of my head asap...

give it more gas before you release the clutch. your letting the rpm drop to much before fully releasing the clutch so you end up in very low rpms where there is little Torque to be had.

second are you sure you dont mean an Intake? Just intake not "manifold"? as in the pipe with the filer on it?
