are MAF pipes or MAF mounting bungs available?

I'm looking for a pod style air filter pipe with a MAF mount or just a weld on MAF bung. something like the Racing beat revi intake's blue metal MAF pipe but with out all the other hardware.

I could buy a K&N tornado kit or the revi but considering I would junk 90% of the kits the cost is to much.

anyone know of a store selling one?

Rootski 01-27-2008 08:11 PM

so you just want a pipe with a filter on the end? Plenty of options for that. Mazdaspeed and HKS spring immediately to mind.

rotarenvy 01-27-2008 08:14 PM

I'd like a hks one but it's about $500 for the rx-8 kit?

after another look the HKS one wouldn't work. I just need something like the greddy turbo kit one or I'll fabricate one.

XRX8X 01-30-2008 03:00 PM

depends on how crafty you are?believe it or not most pepboys auto stores carry the complete make it yourself kit piece by piece.tube ,air filter bends and or curves.

Razz1 01-30-2008 03:13 PM

Wow, that's good to know, thanks

3.5" aluminum intake tubing and elbows are very common

http://vibrantperformance.com/catalo...c2af3ff1cf59c1

The MAF bung is a different story. You typically cut the tube off an OE housing or rob a MAF tube from another kit.

rotarenvy 01-31-2008 03:43 PM

looks like it will be a full fabrication job then.

TeamRX8 01-31-2008 08:33 PM

forgot that I have a MAF bung in a 3.5" chrome-plated steel tube I can let go of, it was from an SR Motorsport intake kit

You can use it as-is or cut the tube 1/2" on each side of the bung and hose it into whatever you want to do ...

if the OP doesn't take you up on it Team, let me know and I'll buy it off you.

TeamRX8 01-31-2008 10:21 PM

just replied back in the other thread, first come first serve

mysql101 01-31-2008 10:27 PM

you're killing me man. I need to head to bed. Give me a price and a paypal address or something :)

rotarenvy 02-01-2008 12:05 AM

I can make one so mysql101 can purchase it if he wants.

TeamRX8 02-01-2008 08:09 PM

you can make one but not for the price I sold it for if you value your labor

also heard that Racing Beat will sell the MAF tube for their Revi intake separately

dannobre 02-01-2008 08:20 PM

Doesn't RP make the MAF tubes for Racing Beat???

TeamRX8 02-01-2008 08:22 PM

:dunno:

Razz1 02-01-2008 09:35 PM

I thought I heard that before.

rotarygod 02-01-2008 09:39 PM

Yes he does.

I have a 3.5" Rotary Extreme maf tube lying around from the old RE intake kit.

I do value my labor thats why I was looking for a mass produced one. mysql101 seem real keen on yours and since I didn't know what it looked like or if it would suit my requirements + the need for me to ship it to .au I thought he might as well have it. I thought the greddy one would suit my setup better and mysql101 has a spare one ;)

I'll also see if RP or RB will sell me one.

I wrote to racing beat about their revi MAF housings, this is what I got back:

Yes, I have these units available. FYI, the ID is 3.44" and the OD is 3.6.
This component is produced from cast-aluminum, then machined to final
tolerances, then anodized. If you are interested, give us a call and ask for
PN 97212 - $47.50.

tdiddy 02-04-2008 06:06 PM

I called them a month or so ago and they told me 75. Pettit told me like 100. Oh well, I didn't buy anything yet and I like that price a lot more.
