Where can you pick up the coil connection kit if you want to piece this together as well? I was given a brand new set of ls2 coils and won't have to buy any of them so I think piecing together will be the least expensive route

http://i277.photobucket.com/albums/k...NUY6ESC_35.jpg http://i277.photobucket.com/albums/k...7ieHObw_12.jpg I've built my own ignition wires before using MSD parts, that's easy. A quick eBay search didn't turn up a cheap source of those coil plugs though (ignitor/ecu side). :/ |
Here they are.
LS2 Yukon Ignition Coils to RX8 Harness Adapter | eBay I used them with D514 coils and wires of a 05-07 Ford F150 V6. The wires you can shorten if you are handy with flat blade screwdriver and crimps. Still have them in a sloppy row zip held together with allthread and zip tied in place. No hot start issues, and worked fine with stock dwell. Hope that helps somebody. |

where can i find these D585s, there expensive as hell for authentic AC Delco, 75-119 bucks a piece. im scared to do the swap if im gonna have to spend 400 bucks to replace coils in the future. Are the benifits really worth the expense? if so, how?
|
Just buy the BHR kit and you won't have to replace them in the future.
A DIY kit is very close to the price of a BHR kit, and the BHR kit uses the right coils, is plug and play, and has excellent customer service. BHR uses a D585 derivative coil. Just buying a set of D585 coils will NOT get you the same thing, as they aren't ideal for use with the RX-8 |

Where did you order the harness and plug wires from? Break down the $322 please because that's a significant savings over BHR. For that price I will order it today!!!

Posted already, read up the page.

I can't seem to find what I am looking for so I figured this would be a good place to ask, does anyone have a wiring diagram for the actual harness between the rx8 ignition harness and wiring up the ls2 connectors?

as attached, note the position of the "tab" as shown on both the connector layout and coil itself
and in response to the deleted post by another member, why do I need the specs of any particular smart coil when it can be tested directly? Aftermarket specs being different than OE is nothing new, quite common actually. The real key is modifying the dwell map properly, even on those particular coils as I've done many times. |
And adjusting dwell is from good edu management such as adaptronic and microtech? Or will even just a Cobb do? And thanks for the diagrams btw team

alright so I have been looking and I cannot seem to get the wiring right. I got the ground hooked to the battery, but as the order of wires into the order of the pugs on the harness of the car I cannot get it to fire. any help of the full wiring harness for the d585 coil would be appreciated.

Probably should have pointed out that you can't assume that the A - B - C positions on the RX8 wiring diagram match the coil. You should have compared the wire color positions on the wiring harness coil connector and wired accordingly. All of the B position wires are solid black (B) and all of the C position wires are black/white (B/W) and the A position wire color varies by the coil position due to that being the signal wire to fire the coil. I'd recommend running the new common ground either to the battery post or to a ground point connected to the battery post.
Also would recommend buying the harness on ebay for $100. Its a quality piece, better than any of the kit harnesses I've seen ... |
Cool I see what you mean I will look at that when I get home from work. Do you happen to know a link to where I can buy the male plugs that plug into the harness on the car? I can't find them anywhere.
