TX List of performance parts, what next or watch out for???

Have purchased and have or on its way: Injen CAI, Racing Beat REVi ram air duct, BHR coil kit with NGK Iridium plugs, and will most likely be buying tomorrow the Exotic Speed header, and Titan II PWR-Si exhaust.

My question is with all that going in do I need to worry about going to the Dyno to get it tuned? If it does need a tune do I need a tuner like a Diablo Sport that plugs in to the OBDII port and loads its own mapping with adjustability built in for custom tunes, or like product that lets you interface with the cars computer or can the factory software just be modified. From what I have read in the Texas forum in the DFW area there is a shop they used called COBB; I have typically known them to be WRX tuners, but they seem to use them and have Dyno days.

I have been building cars for years, and have built show winners and track machines so please do not let the post count I have fool you; I know it screams noob. I just know each car model have their own characteristics, and some come so pig rich in fuel from the factory you can load up on performance before actually needing the dyno, though I know for best gains possible they are a must. Thank you in advance for the helpful advice.

what is this diablo sport you speak of?

Cobb is a company, they manufacture the accessport, the specialty tool that allows you to tune your car. even tho you claim to have knowledge seems like you dont have very much of it. i think you should read up some more. Sorry but this is a NOOB post.

The Cobb Accessport is available for the RX8, all tho for the list of items you have listed it isn't required. MazdaManiac is the only place to get a new AP for the RX8. He can give you a tune, if you follow his procedures, via email. Don't expect much in the way of gains. 20 hp may be the most.
I don't think Diablo has a product for the RX8.

yep the Cobb is actually the most used and Steve Kan --right there in Texas can tune it for you. This car is a little different than most when it comes to tuning. Mazda Maniac also does a pretty good job in doing a remote tune per feedback.
If you want a bigger power jump you have to go FI--unless you want to get hardcore.

The noob comment comes from building not the car itself; obviously I am new to tuning the 8 by the post asking questions, though had I not I wouldn't have been blessed by your king like e-status post count knowledge pass of witty remarks! Hopefully you read the humor!

NEWays... the Diablo Sport is a handheld tuner with built in maps based on tweaked factory parameters for different octane's ratings, along with so many other uses. Then you also can go in and make a custom map on the tuner while on the Dyno, it also allows data logging with and ability to add in a Wide Band O2 for more accurate fuel trimming. It is more than just chipping it. From a thread I was reading I read about a Dyno day at Cobb so that is why I was asking. I have seen the Cobb tuner searching about so I will inform the owner about it since he is aksing. Oh yeah, might have mentioned it is not my car I am working on I am just the builder.

Yeah, Diablo doesn't make one; I just started there since I used it on my Magnum with a HEMI. But, if I am not in need then I won't go down that route right now. Does that include the exhaust/header addition as well, or just the parts I have going on now? If we do go after the tuner just for grins then I will get it through MM and then follow instructions to get it going as much as possible. Not trying to make the next super star at the track, just make it more fun on the road.

Good deal, I will keep it on the burner for when needed or decided to do for grins. FI would be a lot more fun in the turbo form, but right now way down the road. I think all that is listed is going to keep him happy for performance for awhile; he is looking at the Seibon VS hood, the trunk lid, and possible the AE lip kit F & R along with side skirts. I already have a slotted brake kit with SS brake lines going on. Also, stripping the wheels down to powdercoat, along with the strut bar, and calipers.
