the most noticeable differences are in 1st-3rd gear....couldn't feel much, if anything, beyond that. Most people put youtube videos up of their revs while in nuetral....this is where you'll see the most differences....but who drives in neutral?

Charles R: definitely let us know when you're ready to take orders. I'll be up for one. My clutch pedal is fine now but with the new clutch I'd rather be safe than risk burning out my clutch!

It's a giant 3' long piece of angle iron specifically made to hit people that bought autos instead of manuals so you can show your "support" for clutch pedals.

guys i know that this is a stupid question to make but i ill have to since i ve heard this and i am really interested to replace my clutch kit & flywheel with both ACT Prolite & SS Clutch Kit.

A mechanic friend of mine told me that in two turbocharged 8s which he replaced clutch kit and flywheel he faced unstable engine RPMs at the idle.

Would this be true? Did he make any mistake or anything wrong?

He is not my car's mechanic but he is a friend of both of us.. my mechanic told me that he havent done this mod on other RX8 and he doesnt know if this is true or not.

Polak had some bad vibrations with his flywheel install in the Mazda Tuner magazine, they found it had not been aligned/installed correctly. Also, the BOV might need to be adjusted to loosen or tighten the screw. That had caused some hesitation in my car at idle.

Lightened flywheel will be fine. You will notice an increased throttle response but your revs will drop quicker between shifts.

titaniumgr3y - I got the exact same combo from rx7store - the prolite and the SS clutch. I love it! Pickup in 1-3 is noticeably improved. In 4-6 it's slightly better but you may or may not feel it.

Bottom line is I have never spoken to anyone who had a lightweight flywheel on THEIR car and not liked it. There are plenty of friends of friends who have issues, but that's the case for any mod... My dealer told me that strakes and window tint would give me 3 less mpg...

Again does anybody knows if the light flywheel will do - fit - into a rx-8 2006 with 5MT ?
my mechanic says that yes but i have to modify the current flywheel box ( <-- i m not quite sure that it is called like that) to fit the 6MT....

HELP!!!

If the clutch is the same you should be fine. Since it's still a renesis 13B motor it should be the same but have your mechanic check and see if the clutch is the same part # as the 6MT. If it is you should be good to go.

Charles you are right !! i was never really good at research. specially when it is about the cars where my knowledge is minimum. who is chris?

Ok here it goes some answers i got today, the clutch ids not the same, is smaller than the 230hp but it is possible to fit the 230 into the 192.

finally it is possible, however, do you want to do it. i upgrade the flywheel but i am missing the power. what will be the real gain of that mod?

ANYONE in this forum with 192hp and flywheel installed to tell me if there is any real difference?

The engine will rev more freely and the RPMs will rise and fall faster so it's better for quick shifting and you do free up a few hp.

The down side is hill starts are tougher and the engine bogs a little easier when just starting in first so you have to slip the clutch a little more. I've had one for 40K miles now and I think it's great. I just swapped my clutch and it looks like it could go another 50K miles (0.309" of material left).

Get it done, you'll be happy. Just don't expect to gain a bunch of HP.

i am trying to be patient charles... not easy with this car.... i need more and more hp
thessaloniki is very far from where i live but i will try to contact him. thank u for the info.

however i think the question was resolved: yes u can install the light flywheel even if the stock is smaller than the 230hp, by modifying it. It fits! i am not quite sure if on the 192hp will make any difference though. maybe on the 230 is great.

i will contact the rx8 club of greece to check if they have it installed and i will keep all of u posted

ok more research more news.

ACT has a lighter flywheel and fits the 13B engine with the 192hp, BUT there is still nothing good with the clutch. Exedy has one but it is almost identical with the stock.

So if anyone has a 192 hp, it is preferable to wait to have something new on the clutch, in order to do the mod once and for all!

Found many more upgrades though, which i will keep you posted. The bad news are that no matter what you do you will only be near the 230hp or better be a little faster than the 230. No turbo for the 192hp, cause of the lack of one missing spark that 230 has. So we are talking mods on normal compression...

Good findings!

Just so there's no confusion I assume you were referring to Charles R. Hill not me when you say Charles in your posts. I'm not trying to take credit for his knowledge I'm just not sure who you're talking to directly in your posts.

When you say you have "one missing spark" do you mean you only have 1 spark plug instead of 2? That doesn't sound correct.

I understand you have a 4 port engine not a 6 port so do you mean you are missing "one port" from each rotor?

just picked my car up from getting clutchmaster stage1/fidanza aluminmum flywheel combo installed.. i love the way it feels.. my idle hasn't suffered, rev matching downshifts is soo much easier.. just make sure to be quick with the upshifts because the revs drop pretty fast between shifts.. can't really tell if it feels stronger because i'm babying the new clutch which, by the way has a much lighter than stock feel.. i heard the same about centerforce clutches.. it's like getting a new car..
