Does anyone know a good place to get my renesis bored out? I'm thinking like .040, that should give me the power I'm looking for.

Your rings might leak.

TeamRX8 08-03-2017 01:56 AM

Everybody knows the Renesis engine bores out naturally ...

Anyone know what this is?

Gents,

Anyone know what this is? Im thinking it's a Sohn but who knows.

Sitting in the car, top right corner in metal.

Thanks for the help guys!

Here are some extra pictures. Looks as though someone relocated the windshield washer fluid to put a tray in its place, but there's nothing in the tray. Any ideas?

It's got two vapor hoses and a level column on the other end, it's just a catch can.

It has a drain on the bottom - never let it get full.

Lol a catch can only for competitive racing. Great marketing. Any idea what went behind it? Because the windshield wiper fluid can is also aftermarket

Does the odyssey battery provide any benefit over the stock battery looks to be brand new?

Bigmant773 08-06-2017 05:34 AM

Thanks to all you fine people I've found out the origins of this stuff. It's a complete kit by RHD Japan. My question still is though, what is the usefull purpose of this?

Here's the link:

It relocates a smaller battery aft to reduce and transfer weight, I have a similar one msfe by Revolution Rotary japan, i have not installed it as othersclaim the small batteries are no good

You have some rare parts there.

RE Amemiya intake and battery relocation kit with catch can.

To answer your question about the catch can and battery relocate shelf.

Catch can to catch the oil from entering the intake incase the renny pukes oil due to over filling the oil and also under race conditions on hard cornering.

Battery relocate shelf to move battery away from the radiator to allow better airflow and to allow you to install a smaller lighter odyssey style racing battery to reduce weight with no change to system/charging voltage.

I've never seen a Sohn on a Japanese SE3P/RX8, just sayin' ...

Bigmant773 08-06-2017 06:15 PM

Thanks for all the replies guys! The mystery is solved

So briefly skimmed a few posts on the sohn to make sure hasn't been brought up yet (may have missed it) but has anybody thought of incorporating a low coolant sensor into the oil reservoir and just splicing it into the existing wiring. I know checking it should be routine anyways but theres that occasional human error thing or even worse mechanical error E.g. a leak.

Im sure there could be problems with splicing into an piggybacking of an existing circuit but maybe not so if anyone has some input on this?

NotAPreppie 10-04-2017 08:20 AM

Seems like a lot of effort relative to lifting the hood and topping off the reservoir every time you fill up the gas tank.

9krpmrx8 10-04-2017 09:55 AM

Yeah that is just dumb, just check it when you check your oil.

tgaffner 10-04-2017 10:26 AM

Lmao I actually did. Only reason is because I had the perfect setup for it on hand. I wouldn’t have ordered anything to do it, just not worth it. Plus it’s pretty pointless cause the tank I use is clear and I always checking stuff on the car.

I ordered the complete Petit alum overflow tank coolant kit, which comes with another tank (just like the one Epitroch uses in their Sohn kit) that is meant to be wired into your coolant light. I ended up not using that in my coolant system so it wasn’t doing anything.

So I just used that for my 2 stroke tank and if the coolant light ever comes on, I know something bad happened to the Sohn setup. Tank cracked, hose came off, etc...

It is kind of pointless though but like I said I already had the perfect setup on hand

adude 10-04-2017 07:01 PM

Wouldn't be pointless if your driving four hours and get to your stop to find out a hose came loose or you had a crack. Pray to god you didn't floor it during that time either or go more than a couple laps around the track without stopping to check your fluids. By that standard what's the point of having any check light you can visually identify by getting out of the car.

So explain to me how anything simple and inexpensive that could save damage to your engine is dumb?

tgaffner 10-04-2017 07:19 PM

Shit I barely drive mine 4 hours a week

adude 10-04-2017 07:33 PM

I dd mine. I have 3 kids, pregnant fiancé, and work atleast 60hrs a week. I don't always have the greatest memory to begin with plus with everything else a little back up wouldn't hurt in my case.

tgaffner 10-04-2017 08:13 PM

If you bought the epitroch Sohn kit then call pettit and get their “recover resivoir”. It’s the clear plastic tank in their kit. It’s pretty much a perfect swap.
