Hey guys, if i use these lugnuts instead of the stock ones, what can i expect in terms of a performance gain (if anything). Will i feel a difference in acceleration, or maybe in handling/response. What will i gain in terms of street and track driving, or are they completely for looks? I know they are like 35 grams lighter each than the stock ones, and thats unsprung weight too. Do i keep the locking nut, or should/can i replace that too. How do i take off the locking nut, and when i take it off, is it reusable? Do the kyokugen's come with a locking nut or not (i dont think they do). Anyway, thanks for your input in advance.

Very little performance gain. I have them. Nice looking, and lighter, but you are talking about maybe 1/4-1/2 lb. on eack wheel. That sore of difference is not noticeable.

I doubt you see much difference, but getting rid of unsprung weight is always a good thing. I suggets you get muteki lug nuts instead they're made by mackinindustries I had them on for a while and they are spline drives.

I have some works one on right now which are a few ounces lighter but cost double the amount. But if you were going to get the kyohugens you might as well look into getting mutekis instead, they have different color options as well as close ended or open ended.

Fanman you don't track your car.

Alum. Lug nuts are a great concern to me. I don't think they will handle the pressure load on a track. People already loose their wheel on the track.

I'd make sure you replace them all. My Dad had a Porsche 928 with Alum. lugs and when it took it in to get new tires they lost one and replaced it with a steel lug. After about 80mph it would make the car shudder pretty bad.

Actually I have tracked my cars before. I've never had my tire/wheel come off. Aluminum lugs have held up fine. I've been to the track (Streets of Willow & Buttonwillow several times).
