They are on Ebay as well as you can go to the knfilters.com website and they have links to their vendors from there

Hey Mike, in comparison to the stock exhaust to aftermarket exhaust and the stock intake to your K&N intake, is the amount of noise generated equivelant among both mods or is the intake by far louder.

Thankx!

for the automatic trans - yes the intake is much louder than the exhuast.
as for the manuel trans - they are almost as loud as each other

note: the auto I drove, has the JIC exhaust w/ the K&N
the manuel has the Borla exhaust w/ the K&N

Ok, I got a dealer a mile from me. I'm about to call 'em up and pick up an filter if they have it on stock. But what's with the different part numbers, which one to get?

And what does "AUTO" mean? I hope it's not targeted at a specific transmission (which would be weird) cuz I have the Manual.

For how much did you buy it?

MikeA, I don't know if you had a chance to drive EricUSC's RX-8 before the intake with just the Borla exhaust or not, but if you did, can you compare the volume with the Borla before and after the intake? I have the Borla installed and the car's just about as loud as I want it. If the intake makes the car a whole lot louder I may pass on it, but otherwise I want it for sure! I just live in a quiet neighborhood and frequently come home at 2AM so I kinda want to respect my neighbors....

mikeA drove eric's rx8 when it had both intake and exhaust

THE AUTO stands for automotive, it has nothing to do with AT or MT

Hmmm, now I am tempted - but I still want to see if they provide a heat shield which I believe is needed.

TrAsHeR,

The last letter of the part number represents the color: blue, polished, red, and silver.

Irish_in_a_RX8,

Yes, they have an optional carbon fiber heat shield in the works. It should be available in mid February.

They will soon. I have an appointment tomorrow with K&N to have the heat shield fitted. I will post picture as soon as I get back.

Has anybody who bought this done a before/after dyno test? So far (as with all the mods people on this forum are installing), we hear lots about how great it sounds, but nobody bothers getting any proof that they're getting any extra power from this stuff!

Regards,
Gordon

This spring I have to do the exhaust and intake. I fill the need for speed with sound.

Here's a dyno sheet that I got from K&N while waiting for my heatshield to get installed. This dyno was done in August of last year before I had 1500 miles on my car. I'll post pictures of the heatshield after I take some pictures.

Yep. I'll take a picture during the day and post it this weekend since it's dark when I leave and by the time I get home from work.
