Post Interesting eccentric shaft differences between old and new

I have seen someone here claim that some early Renesis engines actually used older 13B rotors and eccentric shafts. I find this highly unlikely. It was also claimed that the eccentric shafts were interchangeable with the older engines. Yes they will physically interchange but there is one very serious issue that would need to be addressed. The front main bearing oil hole on the Renesis shaft is moved about .150" forward. This would result in a mismatch between the oil hole and the main bearing oil groove if the 13B shaft were used. Using the original 13B shaft may have resulted in insufficient oil to this bearing. This info comes from the guys at Rotary Aviation. Just remember this is you ever want a custom built engine. Use ONLY Renesis parts and not 13B parts. There may something serious that can be overlooked! The Renesis e-shaft is physically stronger and lighter than the older shafts anyways.

Might that be why there were engine failures in some of the very early cars (like Canzoomer)?

Actually that is a very good explanation.

Even if they only used the 13B-REW rotors (with the MSP e-shaft) the engine balance might be way off.

As long as you have the correct counterweights for the rotors you are using, the eccentric shaft weight is irrelevant.

If you get the wrong counterweights, it shakes impressively. No way anyone would drive a car like that.
