None of the intakes that currently exist are gving out any substantial gains, the only one I would recommend staying away from is the typhoon. I personally have the SR intake installed and like it very much.

HKS unit is very nice. I have seen a few in person, top quality, solid build, but $$$. I would wait & take a look at the Racing Beat unit coming out. I had the Rotary Extreme unit before I went FI (& the Greddy Airinx replaced the RE unit as it is angled differently). Good piece too.

stock

I don't need a louder intake sound to prove anything. Any other aftermarket intakes do nothing for performance.

I've had my hks intake since it first came out and never ran into any problems...

Here is a link to my installation:

No idling issues, or bogging...and it has a really nice tone. The quality is top notch, no broken brackets. If you have any questions just pm me..

Stock unless you turbo or port etc. You get the same power and it's already paid for. :D

SR Motorsports has an intake variant designed for use with the Greddy turbo. Unfortunately Racing Beat's intake won't work with the turbo kit.

$499 for the SR Motorsports Greddy turbo airbox = insane I'm going to be modifying my Rotary Extreme aluminum airbox to fit my Greddy Airinx unit.

personally, I want to see racing beat's intake system to come out. But for now i'm happy with my stock unit since i'm not really desiring any extra noise.

I had a K&N on my old 8. Traded it in with the car when I got my new 8. I did not have any problems with it, but decided I would try something else with the new car.

I am waiting to see the Racing Beat.

What Do You Guys Think About Our Intake. We Just Finished It. The Runners Are 1/4" Larger For Air/flow And Of Course It's All Aluminum. Would Like To Know What U Guys Think?

Bought the old 8 (silver sport pkg. 6 MT) in Aug 2003. Had about 13,000 miles on it. My dealer "wanted a used 8 for the lot" and asked me to come in. I bit, so I wanted to see what they would do.

There was a 2004 silver GT on the lot. At the time, Mazda had the $1,500 rebate and I qualified for the "college" rebate since I am in graduate school. They discounted the GT to $50 above invoice (Edmunds.com) . . . I got the rebates . . . they gave me what I owed on the old 8 . . . driveout was less that what it was on the old car so I bought it.

Granted, my note is now full term, but I have a better package on my car and it cost less money. Overall I am happy .

The only thing that pisses me off is my center console cover is loose . They put new clip things on it, but it did not fix it. They are supposed to be ordering the "whole thing" to replace it. I do not know what the "whole thing" is, but I will see. My console is usually open so I do not notice the problem, nevertheless, it is still there.

Wow - do you have ports for a set of injectors on there? Reminds me of the HKS Supercharger manifold.

I was thinkin about going with a drop in Green Filter with a borla, from what I read that seems to be a decent combo.

Can someone tell me what type of effect you get from either the Green or AFE drop-in filter other than not having to replace it? Just wondering if there is any difference felt when driving the car.

I installed a *gasp* Typhoon, & the noise was horrific. It definitely needs an enclosure to cut down on the noise & eliminate sucking in hot air from the engine compartment.

To tide me over till I get the time + tools to fabricate something seamless & professional looking, I cut a piece of sheet metal, bent it, & duct-taped the whole enclosure shut...looks like what it is, a bit of 'hillbilly engineering'...hideous looking, really...

...but it cut down the noise and I immediately saw a 3 mpg increase in gas mileage as well as eliminating the flat spot at 7-8k rpm.

Maybe the really knowledgeable folks in the group (like RotaryGod) can tell me why my gas mileage went up? Could it be tricking the MAF & leaning out the intake mix?
