Intake question.

Sorry if this is a repeat but I just signed up today after having my 8 for like 2 months. Been busy.

I was thinking about getting the K&N Typhoon Intake Kit and I wanted to know if anyone has one or if they can push me toward one that they would suggest.

Thanks.

perhaps we need a sticky thread listing all the RX-8 intakes known to work without issue, I think they are:

Factory
Racing Beat Revi
K&N Version2
AEM
Blitz
HKS RS

Frankly, the RB Revi is just a glorifed version of the factory box with a cone filter rather than a panel filter. You might as well save your money and instead use the Racing Beat ram air inlet and K&N flat panel filter with the factory box. though to do it right will require a small adaptor piece between the box and the ram inlet

What about the HKS RS Kit, TeamRX8? I haven't heard of any issues occuring with the HKS unit.

There's also the Mazdaspeed Cold Air Intake, but it's just a pricey AEM I guess.

If I were in the market, I'd get the AEM CAI.

Is it easy to install by yourself or should i take it to the dealer and have them do it? Im only 18 and i dont want to mess it up.

I've heard some good things about the Umnitza CF intake. I may get that myself. Anothr 8 pulled up along side of me the other night and we were talking, he has the typhoon rev 2 in his, sounded nice.

see the part about not released yet and nobody has one, therefore nobody can comment on how worthwhile it really is

And the one pictured in the catalog is just a generic one that doesn't even look like it would fit in the RX8.

One of the vendors has a link to the catalog.

The MS CAI just keeps getting postponed though, so the wait might really long before it gets released or it might be released soon..
