Intake problems

I have just put on a weapon-r intake and the car sounds and runs great, it hasnt thrown any codes or anything but as soon as I push in the clutch it dies if I dont catch the rpms in time. Also when I'm on the highway in the 80's w/ cruise on and or off the car will stay at a constant speed but jerks as if I were on and off the gas. Any ideas on what to do would be great. Thanks

Cool Sounds....

Sounds like an air leak, upstream of the MAF. Check the connections between MAF and throttle body.

When you put on the infamous WR, did you plug the vacuum line to the VFAD?

Did you clear the fuel trims in the PCM so that it could adapt to the new intake?

Does the weapon R come with any screens? Sounds like the stalling that was happening with the first gen. K&N. you may need to fabricate at least 1 (stock uses 2) screen before the MAF to smooth out the airflow.

The problem is that the weapon-r is known to cause issues, and if you'd searched you'd know it isn't one that we generally bother with. My post was thus informative and constructive. It's the wrong intake to use.

I bet it is the size of the pipe. If it is less than 3" in dia. then you are most likely starving the car of air. I found this out when I used a cold air intake from a S2k to fab my own intake. The pipe size was 2.75"....big no no. My car jerked and tried to stall a few times. I realized what the problem was once I measured the size of the stock pipe (where the MAF plugs in). Check out my thread with the first intake and the revised one. My car has been running fine for the past few mos. after changing the pipe size. Ebay sells the 3.5" pipe I used pretty cheap.

Page three shows a working 3.5" short ram intake I made and the 3.5" CAI version further down the page. I currently running the CAI version with no problems.

^Good call. The 1st version of the Umnitza intake had the wrong size MAF pipe along with no screens and people were having the same problems as 2xRotary with stalling and choppy idles.

I cant believe Weapon R still exist. Maybe just me but I seriously hate their half-assed product line.

Oh well, Civics love Weapon-R

not to be an *** or anything... just giving my opinion...
if you're on here, as u state above, for 'help and facts about the car' you should have run into tons of threads where people ask opinions on ebay intakes & other similar crappy intakes they run into. if you read through even just one of these, you'd know that the rx8's stock intake is very efficient. many companies, including k&n, failed at making a better performing intake for our cars.
i'm just saying... u should've read up on her a little more & gone w/ the majority of the board recommends.
