intake comparison

based on price, effect on the power on the car, ease of install, and other things, which intake to you vote for?

DarkBrew 10-10-2007 09:12 PM

Oem?

Looks, sound - Mazdaspeed

tajabaho1 10-10-2007 09:13 PM

OEM............if you truly want to waste money, I suggest you get racing beat with their ram air, if not

just stock with racing beat ram air

imput1234 10-10-2007 09:26 PM

I say OEM. OEM CAN NOT BE BEATEN. lol

MyEnemy 10-10-2007 09:37 PM

Got my mazdaspeed one for free, so that is what i got in mine. Looks nice as well and people ask where that pipe is going.

My ML Wankeltrim 4" cold air inlet, with Simota cone filter. According to the Moroso speed calculator i have gained 13 rwhp with my G-Tech. Big thing is that it's need mapping, becausse of all the extra mass volume of air the motor can take. Note this is not a finished product, but it will be.

love the sound of the racing beat

Mikeluvs8 10-10-2007 11:44 PM

K&N typhoon 2 + RB air duct

swoope 10-11-2007 12:31 AM

hi lasse - I can't see how increasing the intake dia. can make much difference - you still have to go through a 21/2 in (approx.) throttle body after the intake ......

tajabaho1 10-11-2007 12:55 AM

probably better air flow? but your right, it still goes through the same throttle body

Nopstnz8 10-11-2007 12:59 AM

AEM and Mazdaspeed are basically the same thing. The Mazdaspeed is the AEM with the Mazdaspeed name on it. The AEM is a little cheaper though. The Mazdaspeed will come with a warranty from Mazda.

philsbluerx8 10-11-2007 01:02 AM

i am thinking to change intake too cuz my SR had a bad design which makes me unhappy, now i keep racing beat in my mind. so vote for RB

tajabaho1 10-11-2007 01:08 AM

from what I've heard (from master jedi) RB gives u the best HP gain

HCTR154 10-11-2007 01:08 AM

OEM with drop in K&N drop in filter. Also removed one of the screens and the baffles in the air box. Possibly considering an Odula intake to couple with the stock airbox.

chetrickerman 10-11-2007 07:37 AM

but the racing beat is just so much more expensive than the other intakes

nycgps 10-11-2007 08:58 AM

You include the garbage Weapon R and not K&N ?

Yeah yeah Others ....

Shame on u.

chetrickerman 10-11-2007 09:06 AM

i totally forgot about the k&n, but i havent really seen a lot of people with them, but my bad

Spinning Sushi 10-11-2007 09:07 AM

No K&N Intakes in the poll? This poll fail!

It's fooling the maf (calibrated for oem size) as it's not seeing all the flow & will run lean.

A 1/4" difference may help lean out the mixture & gain something but thats only my theory. It will prob run too lean down low to make a good difference in the upper range.

SoFL_RX8 10-11-2007 10:01 AM

OEM with K&N drop-in filter, removed trumpet and baffles, with the RB ram air duct. Just as good as any other intake, sounds pretty nice (not very loud) and is the cheapest route to go.

swoope 10-12-2007 01:13 AM
