why do you need emissions testing right now?

you should pass emissions anyway.

You could not wait one more day to install it? It has passed the smog test before, so good luck

I forgot about this. Yea it passed.

I also noticed that after having the supercat for about 100 miles the exhaust note changed. It's not very buzzy, it was smooth before. I checked and have no exhaust leaks. Looks like I'll be adding a large resonator soon.

you can reuse the stock gasket and bolts. i opted for the supercat because i dont want the CEL light there to **** me off. and it's a plus if it passes emissions.

I got the gasket kit. Not worth it to re-use old gaskets, as a lot of them are crush-type so that they conform to the shape of the original unit, and may have leaks when you put in a new pipe.

As to why a supercat vs. a midpipe, you are only losing maybe a hp or two, and you can pass emissions with a hi-flow cat. Can never do that with a straightpipe. Also can trigger the CEL light, and makes the car that much louder. Not even mentioning killing the environment.

Supergoat,
What are your impressions after running around with the Supercat? Money well spent?

How does the car feel with the supercat. I'm seriously considering getting one soon. What other mods do you have?

Mods so far are just the supercat and a K&N.

The cat-back will be here tomorrow.

The car does feel better with the supercat but the noise it makes now is not so good. I have a dynomax bullet muffler coming tomorrow as well that I will have welded in to act as a resonator. After 100 miles it sounds like a 1.6l Civic with no exaust. I checked for leaks and it's good and tight.

Sure you can. Example, in my state any car with OBD1 or OBD2 does not take a sniffer test, plus my state has NO visual inspection for any cars, with or without OBD. All they do with OBD cars is plug a scan tool into it and check for emissions codes. Get an O2 simulator or use the "bushing" to bring it out of the exhaust stream and bam, no CEL and passing emissions.

Are you sure about that DUB? I thought they did the sniffer test in King County, but no scan and no visual. It's been a long time that I can't even remember, but when I had my old integra I remember them putting something in my exhaust and at the time I was worried I wasn't going to pass.

I'm pretty sure. I'm in King County and so is my friend and he just had to have his Mustang tested. All they did for him was a scan, nothing else.

I passed NJ emissions on my 2nd gen Rx7 with a RP cat and racing beat header. Just some food for thought.

Not loud, but now that the cat is "broken in" the exhaust is buzzy.

The cat-back will arrive tomorrow. I was not home when UPS came and they didn't just leave it at the door.

But my Dynomax Bullit muffler came in!! So that will go on tomorrow as well to act as a resonator to quiet the beast down. I'm just nost sure if it should be welded in closer to the cat or the muffler for optimum sound suppresion.

Just got my supercat installed. Sounds great with the Racing Beat. Not too loud, but loud enough. I love it!
I'll recap some more after it's broken in.
