Since no inake out there is going to give you more than a few horsepower more max, you aren't going to feel any of them. The car needs to gain almost 10% more power (20+ hp) before you can even accurately perceive the increase is in fact there at all. No one has an accurate "butt dyno" no matter how good they say they are. What is mroe likely is that the added sound of the intake will make you think it is faster. If you actually do get a few horsepower more from this and you also do another mod that also gets a few horsepower more, you may have a combination that you actually can feel. It won't be impressive though and not noticable on its own.

Just for the record, I never implied that my "butt dyno" was an accurate measure of a performance increase. I am sure the performance increase is perceived because of the sound as others have stated. The throttle response, however, is noticably better with the K&N.

I am happy with my purchase. It is the first of several mods I want to make as I get the money. An exhaust is next on the list. May the combo of the intake and the exhaust will give me the "real" increase I am looking for overall.

On that note, does anyone have recommendations of an exhaust that will complement the K&N?

Also, those wondering if they want an intake should attempt to get with someone in their area whose has one and drive their car. I am sure others would not mind sharing a ride and meeting fellow rx8club members.

Don't worry I wasn't directing anything at you. I was really talking about the ricers out there and how they think such things.

Just for clarification to everyone, I'm not saying that an intake is a waste of money. I do believe that throttle response can improve but added power is limited. I don't feel it a worthwhile mod if it is the ONLY mod that you want to do. However put together with a nice exhaust and you probably will notice a gain. Yes it all does add up.

Since most of the exhausts out there are also giving similar gains, I'd just pick the one that looks and sounds best to you personally. My first choices would probably be towards Borla or Racing Beat systems. Greddy has always had a thing for being really loud.

Thumbs up got my K&N typhoon installed today too.

I installed my typhoon intake today too, and it is great... easy instructions, nice growl, increased acceleration response and the heat shield came with my kit too. I got it from Hop up Racing. Back when I ordered mine, I posted the link when they were $169.00, but now they are more expensive. The filter ends are carbon fiber, not open ended on the front. Nice fit and finish. with the enfine cover on, I don't worry about engine heat, since the hood is closed when you are driving and the factory ram induction will force plenty of cold air into the filter. I can't wait till I get my new exhaust!!!!!!!!!!!!

How long did it take you to get it from HopUp? From time of ordering until you got it in the mail...

Thanks.
