Ya know with stuff like this, and the prices Ingalls charges, I often just sell them for my cost+shipping to those who really want them. That works out to be something like $170 or so.

Mentioning motor mounts, DOM, I am not sure if these things can absolutely be said to save/help the Mazda mounts or not. We can suppose that but I don't think there has been enough field data to prove it.

I saw this on a website and it was like 155.00 plus tax and shipping, so that would be around 170. ish or so. Charles, how long would the lead time be on one of these. I like it and want to do it at the same time as my motor mounts, or at least shortly thereafter.

You are looking for an Ingalls part #93039. My cost is slightly less than $150 and shipping is $12 or more as that is what my wholesaler charges me. They are not in stock but stuff that isn't usually takes 7-10 days to get to you.

Updates from me, as I was the first Ingalls car...not much to report. Car still isn't broken, so I guess that's a good thing. I've had it almost a year, and probably have about 5k or so miles on the car since it's been installed. So, no issues from me, with either my car or the product itself.

i have often wondered about how the exhaust header bolts onto the frame and how that affects engine movement. there is no give to that bolt/mount and the header cant move either way. SO how the heck is the engine moving? I know it does but how the heck does it do it ?

The stock header bolts to the transmission not the frame. The tranny moves with the engine.

Ive had this dampener on for about 3 months now and im quite impressed.
You do need some larger sized wrenches to change settings but other than that its pretty simple.

On track settings (stiffest) it will vibrate through the car at idle but will help with the shifts and throttle response. If your running a stockish intake setup ( like i am) it brings out a deep tone from the the engine.

On more moderate daily setting. It wont give any vibration on idle but will also minimize the quicker throttle response and shifting you would get on track settings. Intake sound wont be as deep either.

Too funny! Ingalls' torque dampeners are all the rage over at the drive ACCORD forum where I now call home. =)

Never thought I would see such a mod on this site...

Does this help with wheel hop? If so, shouldn't it be towards the back of the car somewhere?

Help a newbie out...

-Bill

It goes on the engine how would that help with wheel hop. It's designed to help keep the engine from rocking side to side, and keep the driveline aligned. You must be thinking of something else.

Maybe I'm thinking of a FWD vehicle?

It does help with wheel hop regardless. Wheel hop isn't solely due to suspension issues, it also has alot to do with what motion the engine and tranny/difff mounts allow those components to have. Regardless of FWD or RWD the engine is connected to the wheels with stiff shafts(including the driveshaft down the center and the ones in the back on the 8). These shafts barely have any "give" and when you combine that with the fact that the engine/tranny mounts are "gummy" and with situations in which there is some traction but not enough to just grab and go you get wheel hop. The TQ damper takes care of this by absorbing some of this motion. Having rubber mounts is like having springs without shocks on your suspension, your car would go into harmonic motion(or in this case wheel hop) while driving down the road(in this case while attempting to grip). Adding the Tq damper is like putting shocks on the suspension, it takes care of the back and forth motion of the springs....and it does reduce wheel hop.

Best regards,

Chris

im with chris on this one, any play in the driveline makes the felt tourqe on the wheels fluctuate what contributes to hop.

Chris, thanks for educating me on that, I really didn't know that. You really can learn something new everyday. Much appreciated.

True...I agree.

I will make it better, not necessarily eliminate it completely...the real cure is to turn your car into a race car where nothing is allowed to move at all but you feel every little vibration and noise.

We have THAT much torque to require a torque damper?
