if you were me...

if you were me, what mods would you get if you had to choose 3 of the following 4 mods: fidanza flywheel, short shifter, bb midpipe, and cold air intake

i will eventually get the 4th one but i wont be able to drive my car until january so i want to be able to feel like im driving a faster car and all and i dont know if i can save enough money for all 4 by then cuz im only 17.

thanks.

flywheel is the only one that's going to give you any power, and that's minimal. I would go:

Flywheel
Shifter
Air intake
in that order.

depends, IMHO, flywheel isnt as noticable as some people make it out to be. Your first mod should be some lightweight wheels.

I like the Revi with the ram air from Racing Beat, but it's not cheap.

I would do the AFE short shifter first because it is one on the best mods for the 8 because you'll get continuous enjoyment from it.
The flywheel isn't as noticeable according to those that have them.
The air intake mostly makes the car louder so it's subjective.
The mid pipe can add power but may make objectionable noise and could cause a CEL as well.

Flywheel, shifter, supercat.

Flywheel I think runs around 300? plus maybe another 300-400 for the installation. So your already looking at 600-700 dollars. Then the shifter is 260$. And a supercat after all is said and done is around 450 dolalrs. AND if you throw an air intake in there, figure 300-450 for that.

So altogether these mods will give you maybe the equivalent of I dunno, 15-20 hp? and your going to be spending 1300 dollars minimum.

Flywheel doesn't really give horsepower, so I guess you can't measure that.

Why not just save A LOT of your money and go F/I and get much more hp?

I've had these mods, except my flywheel is ACT and I had a high-flow instead of a midpipe. The the sound with an intake, high-flow and the stock exhaust is just about perfect. The flywheel I had done while I had my clutch changed, just because they already had it apart and there was a good deal on an ACT package.

Then go with the shifter, hi-flow cat/midpipe and intake. These are relatively easy to install yourself. The flywheel is not. A flywheel plus labor would not leave you enough cash for the others.

you have no idea how badly i want a turbo. my dad wont let me get one because he thinks i will kill myself. he thinks my car already has too much power. i laugh when he tells me that. there are people on the road driving bmw m3's and stuff that are fixed up and have around 500hp. my car with a turbo would only get to about 300 or 325. once i move to tuscaloosa though i will get one but for right now i cant get anything that "dramatically increases the speed of my car" as my dad says.

Thank your dad for getting you the car... don't worry about the turbo until you can make the decision to get one yourself in my opinion =)

I would skip all of those and get nitrous. None of the mods you listed are going to get you any real power. Maybe 5 horsepower, if that. And you'll spend a boatload to do it. Get nitrous and get Charles R. Hill to help you install it, and you'll be much happier. It's like a part-time turbo for ~$600.

That said, the short-shifter makes the car better to drive. But you might also want to get some sway bars.

I already answered your question, but my thoughts are to just learn the car like the back of your hand. This car is well built straight from the factory. Becoming a better/faster driver is always free and is never a bad thing. Skills>mods any day.

My personal expericne from modding cars is lightweight wheels do make a nice diffrence. If you want cheap and light weight its hard to be Rota's. Ive had several sets and still run them on my Honda. Only reason I have not put them on my 8 yet is because Im finding it pretty hard to find a set of wheels that look better on the car. BTW I think Porsche thought so too

isnt nitrous extremely dangerous and explosive? if i did get it would it be possible to install it so that the bottle wouldnt be seen? and could i take the bottle off when i dont want to use it? cuz if someone hits me and it blows up im gonna die hahaha.
