Just for kicks, in order of what you should purchase over the first 30,000 miles:

- 1,764 gallons of gas - $5,294 (using 17mpg and $3 per gallon)
- 40 quarts of oil for oil changes - $160
- 10 oil filters - $120
- 30 quarts of oil to top off with - $150
- 4 spark plugs - $80
- 4 coils - $140
- 4 plug wires - $60
- 4 tires - $800
- 2 quarts of transmission fluid - $20
- 2 quarts of rear diff fluid - $20
= $6,844

Multiply any items by 2 if you purchase them from a dealer.
Multiply any items by 3 if you purchase them from a dealer and have the dealer do the labor.

If you don't do all of this (roughly), then add $6,000 for an engine replacement

After all that, worry about mods.

You made the wrong move maxing yourself out on purchasing the car.

Even if you are from the Honda forum and are just trying to troll....

We should probably start posting this list for new people, especially the overly anxious modders.

yup we should. Such a great list. And very expensive. 7k first years ownership if you buy used.

I like it.

parts would be shipped to 75067 usa

I'm only 16 so I only have like $1k or less because i dumped all of my money into the best car I could find
2nd, our cars and parts are expensive

-Exhausts are $400+ (starting from used, simple cat-back)

-Intakes are $250 - 300 +

-Suspension is very expensive ... well over ur budget

-so is carbon fiber and anything appearance related

-A good set of tires is almost a grand as well

-Leave money for maintenance/ unforeseen problems

pick two out of the 6 categories and spend your grand there, but first do research and figure out some goals ... come out to some meets and do an autox event .... and always ask questions!!!!

drifting is VERY rough on your car, probably the most abusive form of competitive racing that is applicable to the rx8

+1

If you want an RX-8 (or really any performance vehicle) then read this!

I even notice the cost of owning and modding an RX8 (especially in Canadian dollars). I cannot imagine doing this at 16.
