Well I called RB today to order some treats for my car; Intake, Suspension Package and the RB Exhaust, got everything except for the exhaust, out of stock. So that got me looking at other ones, Hymee inparticular....and I found out that Mazmart has some RB exhausts in stock, but after doing a lot of thread searching I think I am leaning towards the Hymee. Anyways since I am getting the RB Intake, will the exhaust make a difference?? Basically would one be better with the intake than the other???

The RB intake has specifically been tuned to the RB exhaust so there lies your answer .

Dont get me wrong the Hymee exhaust is great and probably cheaper , however it hasnt been tuned to the RB INTAKE .

I think if it were me I would have developed the intake to work with the stock exhaust not an aftermarket one. There will be a lot more of that combination then any other.
On top of that you can bet that those two aftermarket exhaust will look the same to the intake. That is if it can really see it at all. I base this on the exhaust note of these two.

rb intake was designed with the stock exhaust not the rb exhaust.

from what i've read the Rb is heavier than stock? Given the small hp gains from a catback, if you care about maximizing performance gain, i would not go heavier.

Can somebody confirm that the RB exhaust is heavier? I was getting really close to pulling the trigger and buying the RB system and I was assuming it would be a nice weight savings over stock. If it is indeed heavier or even the same, I may have to look elsewhere.

It's approximately the same as stock. When I put it on my car, we didn't weigh it or anything but it was pretty similar. It is a good quality piece. Many of the aftermarket exhausts are about the same as the stock unit. I do know from the Mazdatrix website the new Magnaflow exhaust is quite a bit smaller & lighter. If you have the $, you can always go titanium.

Without weighing them, I felt the RB exhaust was a bit heavier than the stock. Certainly it did not seem lighter. If one of your primary reasons for looking at the RB exhaust is the sound I suspect you will not get it with the lighter exhausts....there's bound to be some compromises in one or the other.

I wanted to switch from a racing beat to a hymee but when i heard the clip i think the hymee is a little louder in whitch i dont like. i want to be able to listen to music but have something when i step on it.

I believe the Racingbeat is slightly heavier than stock as well. I'm not an autocrosser, so the marginal extra weight wasn't a concern, especially in light of the quality and sound.

The OEM muffler system weighs 39 lbs.
The RB muffler system weighs 49 lbs.

Wow, thats a big difference. I would hope to lose 10lbs with a new exhaust, not gain.

The RB muffler alone weighs alot more than the whole stock system, much less the RB muffler+midpipe. As far as I know the Magnaflow exhaust is one of the lightest, although I dont know the exact weight. Or if you really wanna throw down the cash get a titanium exhaust that weighs 12 Lbs!

What I wanna know is which ones can shoot out flame =)

Mine does. If you get the hi-flow cat or midpipe you will be able to shoot flames out. I have the turbo on there & I still have a backfire issue. People behind me claim they have seen fireballs come out of my exhaust....unintentionally.

i read somewhere that the stainless hymee weighed 17kg in the packaging (~35/36lbs). i'd like to know if the mild/aluminized steel weighs less.

I just picked up my Hymee exhaust from the man himself and listened to his car and it's NOT loud! It's crisp and north of 6500 it's sounds exactly how you would expect the RX should sound when used in anger.

Aussie laws are worse than our NZ ones on excessive noise and Hymee's done a great job in this respect.

Gets fitted tomorrow!!!

You might find this interesting. This is an e-mail I received regarding the hymee exhaust and ithe difference between the stainless steel and aluminized steel versions:

Sorry - I was going to take a photo of both systems next to each other, and couldn't find the camera! Then before I knew it, that had been shipped.

It is a matter of the materials used. Stainless steel doesn't rust. Aluminised mild steel will eventually rust out.

The Aluminised mufflers would probably last 3 years or so, depending on the environment they are used in. The Stainless steel mufflers should be good for 25 years.

There is no performance/noise/reliability differences. Both are equally high quality. The stainless steel ones are polished, and the mild steel ones are painted with black paint. Both systems have the same stainless steel 100mm (4") polished tips.

I put the Hymee on a couple months ago and at that time I had a Rotary Extreme intake. Worked well, but no real significant increases in power or performance. Last month I added the the Bonez high flow cat. BAM! Power, performance, and really annoying resonance through the Hymee.
Two weeks ago I swapped out the RE intake for the REV-i. Slight change in low end performance. And just two days ago I had to add a resonator because I couldn't stand the noise.

Conclusions: Hymee is very nice but will require a resonator if you choose to go to a straight mid pipe or high flow cat.
REV-i is a benefit for any setup.
Significant power and performance gains most evident with high flow cat
Waiting for my CZ and Canscan to complete the package.

Thanks Chief, That is exactly what I needed to hear. I live about 5 miles from RP and was going to go pick up a super cat when my exhaust came in so I could get all installed at once. So I guess I am going with RB.
