How to put the O2 sensor on my Midpipe?

Sorry I have not been keeping up on the forum for the last 4 months. I have been real busy with getting out of the Marine Corps and all. Now that I am out of the milatary I can focus more on my 8. My Greddy exhaust and B&B straight pipe has came in. I kind of know more or less how to put the exhaust on from the post on this forum by Canzoomer. Where does the o2 sensor go and how do you connect it.

Welcome back stateside.

The O2 sensor is a gizmo that plugs into the stock catalytic converter to measure whether it's working or not. Since your midpipe replaces the catalytic converter, you have to fool the car into thinking the cat is still in place or you'll get a check engine light (CEL).

I believe the "fooler" unit you put in place of the O2 sensor plugs in in the same place that the sensor used to be (instead of the sensor), and is not attached to the cat at all. You just tie it up under the car.

Give casper electronics a call and tell them you need an 02 foller for your RX8. I would give you the model number, but I don't remember which one it is. You can just call and they will give you the part number. Should run about $50.

Is there such a thing as a random search for the actual CAT being there? If the setup is too loud, won't they look under the car maybe?

In MD cars go through visual inspection during emissions testing were the only thing they look for is the cat (they are suppose to look under the hood as well).

Well the exhaust set up sound loud. I love it. The hardest part was the rubber mounds. I recommend some WD-40 and a flat head screwdriver. It will pop does bad boys right out. Another thing is when connecting the B&B mid-pipe to the Greddy exhaust the bolts in which you take off the springs where different. The original flang nuts are a that to small for the bolt so I had to go to a parts store and buy the right nuts. And last, I thought I put o2 sensor right cause it comes with directions (I didn't know) but It is not doing what it is supposed to so I guess I did some thing wrong. This weekend I am going to try moving the ground wire to another location. If that does not work I am going to take the wires apart and do it again. If that does not work I am going to a performance shop.
