i bought a used mazdaspeed cai and i never got the derections on how to install it, i was planning on winging it but when i searched the forum i found that you need to unbolt a lot more then i thought and that this takes some time to do. I couldnt find a detailed diy for the mazdaspeed cai so here i am calling on all mazdaspeed cai owners to help me out. can someoone plz post the instructons, or write out a diy or point me out to a thread that i might have missed.

Its the same a AEM, so you can *ask for AEM installation diy* as well

But the most important part would be to take the Front bumper off, after that you would have to take the whole VFAD and Stock Intake Box off. After that just connect all the pipes , line it to the place where the VFAD used to be, and u're all set.

Do you know how to use a Screwdriver ? If you dont, I suggest you to return your CAI.

The hardest part to do is the Bumper, But it shouldnt take long. First timer like me took 30 minutes. VFAD another 30. and Intake box like 15

One thing to keep in mind is that. Dont force anything, if you cant get something off, Make sure its not locked on the other side

i didnt ask for smart *** opinions, all i asked was for some details. i installed my own vader body kit so i dont think you need to tell me about working with the bumper. i allready installed it but i have a green plug hanging and some other stuff and im not sure what is kept and what is junk thats all, if you guys could tell me......and whats the VAFD? is it that think that screws into the first pipe?

 

PM me your e-mail address, I will attach a pdf of the install for the aem cai. Read through it and look at your parts...it should be incredibly similar if not exact. the VFAD is directly under the top of the front bumper. you will have to remove the whole stock air box, take the bumper off, then remove the VFAD. Use the AEM instructions, they will get you through it. I HIGHLY recommend jacking up your front end and removing the wheels. I did it without doing this, but certain clips were a pain to get to and it probably would have taken me far less time to just remove the wheels.

 

THE most important bit (which may not be covered by AEM instructions) is to plug the vacuum line that presently feeds the VFAD system.

Leave it open and you will have knobbed LTFT's and a CEL.....

 

about plugging the vfad line, i followed the tubes until it connected to around the intake manifold, do i disconnect the tube there? and what do i plug it with?

hey, you need to do a search on google for aem rx8 intake. AEM has step by step instructions on their website that are better than the directions that mazdaspeed gives you.
