Hoss -05 finally orders and Exhaust!

So after about a year of internal debate and many canceled orders (do to none availability) I have finally ordered an exhaust system.

It is the Exoticspeed RII-Titan Exhaust:

If you have ever looked into this exhaust you will notice it has a few options. The ones I chose were:

A Primary pipe diameter of: 3.0"

The PWR-Si option: (Silent intense, 15DB noice reduction)

And the type B black chrome tips:

It will be paired with a BHR none catted mid pipe and OEM header. I am hoping with the "PWR- Si" and physically long "mufflers" that is is able to keep the sound controlled and low even with the 3" diameter.

I should arrive about the same time my car will be back from the body shop. the car is currently getting most of the OEM Mazdaspeed body stuff put on.

Congrats Hoss,

I've always liked the look of that exhaust. I've never heard one in person though.

Its in my build thread, under parts in the Very first post. knewb... lol

I don't believe I have ever herd of anyone owning the 3" pwr-si set up before.

I have gun mettle rims and the paint on the lips on my mazdaspeed kit match the rims. It is also my plan to have the OEM emblems painted dark chrome.

I am looking forward to testing it. I kinda stuck my neck out on this one. As far as I know there is no one else owns the 3" system with the pwr-si option and has spoke up about it. Not having a obnoxious sounding exhaust is high on my list of wants.

Ha If I like it enough I may just put on on the R3 as well.

It is my plan to black chrome the emblems and spoiler hardware as well.

I ordered my titan-II over summer and its paired with the racing beat DR midpipe. The system is 2.5" and I doubt it has the silencer option. Its loud. Be warned. Still bad *** though

Love the look of these exhausts.

I am looking at some custom made exhausts that will have a perforated pipe and steel wool packed. Most exhausts have the pipes wrapped in glass wool or steel wool. Generally performance rotary exhausts needs to be 100% steelwool packed.

Excessive heat also caused the welds around the seams to crack after one track session.

I almost recommended this, but was unsure about how loud it would be on an unplugged SC application ...

It needs to be coarse stainless steel wool, regular steel wool will melt and/or mat out over time

Yeah, I figure if it starts to get to loud over time I will have those "muffles" cut out and will put something a bit nicer it there place.

It was our conversations that pointed me in this direction Team.

as previously posted, there were comments about the exhaust being loud and also without first hand experience you can't be sure that the so-called quiet option isn't excessively restrictive. Being a full 3" system is no guarantee and along the same line they can claim anything. 15 dB is a significant difference, huge even. I had some suspicions either way.

Sorry that I couldn't be of more direct help for you. My hands are a bit tied at the moment. That situation may change sooner than I expected.

No worries Team. I will look into this and report the results. Who knows... it may be magic! I am expecting it to be a bit louder then I want but we will see.

My buddy had the titan II or whatever it is called with 2.5 and blue tips, and the right side stuck out further than the left. he said it was normal, which made me not want to buy exoticspeed for this reason. other than that his was super loud no resonators and midpipe.. super loud!!!!

Yeah this one is being pared with the BRH resonated mid pipe and although it is the bigger 3" version I hope it is a bit more quite with the PWR-SI option. If I have any fitment issues the car will be at our local exhaust shop for adjustments.

After I get the car back and when 9KrpmRX8 or I have time to throw it on. I'm sure in the next month or so pending on when I get back from this place.

Looks good. Are the edges welded or does it have a folded seam that is welded. The reason I ask is that my original muffler had cracks along the weld.

My new muffler has the two pieces of metal folded together and welded. This should make it stronger.

However, yet to take it to the track to test the new system.

Not really sure. Hard to tell from the photos.

Ok more pics!

It seems that the resonator slims down a bit on the inside but it hard to tell just how much:

It looks good man, impressive setup. Raul (cars name, don't ask) will be happy to see it (hopefully tomorrow)

The straight sections resonator reduces is down to approximately 2 inches.

It looks like it will provide good noise reduction. The holes should provide flow and if is well constructed then it should survive the extreme heat.
