Ground Wire?

I want to get a Hyper Ground System from Sun Automobile. I heard it work great with RX-7. Have anyone here try it out with an RX-8 yet? Is it worth it for $115? It look good for my engine bay, but does it do any good for engine?

Put in this kit for $85.00. Click here

Good instructions and its custom made for the RX-8. Didn't notice any driving difference but it looks good under the hood and the theory is sound. I will add a photo later

I made my own ground wire kit for under 15 bucks. Not too hard...the performane isn't worth $115.

This may be a dumb question but what does it do for the car?

The below text is what you would find on a resellers site. I tried to search Goggle for some UN-biased info on Ground wires but didn’t really find any. So to answer your question it’s probably one of the many mods that don’t really do anything. But my father-in-law who was a mechanic for 35 years recommended it and comparing the gauge of the wires to those of the stock ones give the impression that it can’t hurt. Knowing how critical the electrical system of new cars are these days it seemed to me to be worth while but I didn’t expect and do not see any noticeable changes in performance.

This auto wires system (ground wire kit) provides direct ground path from battery negative to body, chassis, and engine components to give extreme improvement on electrical circulation.
The Hyper Ground System wire cables have 10 times less impedance than factory ground system, which provides immaculate conduction to prevent electrical power loss. The higher resistances of factory grounds have negative effect to the ignition system and obstruct the primary potential.

Hyper Ground Wire Kits uses thick gauge 99.99% pure copper, and connects directly from the cylinder head and other points under the hood to the battery, to provide an ultra low resistance connection. This ground wire kit will increase the primary potential of regular cars to ignition-tuned vehicles.
Key feature of Hyper Ground System (ground wire kit):
· Gain Torque and Horsepower
· Increase Fuel Efficacy for Better Gas Mileage
· Better Throttle Response.
· Reduced Emissions.
· Brighter Headlights.
· Reduced Audio Noise.

Thumbs up Fusion Ground Kit

I just installed the Fusion High Performance Grounding Kit on my 8. The ECU was reset when I disconnected the battery so, I drove the car for about 100+ miles to get the ECU to relearn what my sensors were reading, enviormental conditions and get reajusted to the new voltage changes.

Results: small gain in power especially at 1/2 to 3/4 throttle, much smoother and quicker throttle response, smooth shifing between gears and a little better gas mileage city/freeway driving.

I was unimpressed with Mazda's grounding system, small wiring and some of the the copper screws were starting to show signs of prematue aging. My grounding kit was made of 4 guage high quality copper wire with gold conncetors, 8 wires completed the loop. I also regrounded my Racing Beat exhaust to the chassis with 4 guage copper wire and copper conncectors.

The cost ($94.00 including shipping) was worth the gains and it took me about 1 1/2 hours for the install including the exhaust connection.

Silver RX-8 with K&N short ram intake, SR under drive pulleys, Magnecor racing plug wires, Fusion Grounding Kit, SR High Flow Cat & Racing Beat Back Cat Exhuast.

I'm very happy with the cars performance, it's fast and handles great, not too mention being able to carry to regular size adults in the back seats and pack in the trunk for a week's trip............350Z owners, eat your hearts out!!!!!!!

Good call Paul,

I actual found Fusion on the RX-8 Club Forum and liked the quality but you found an equally good product for half price. I went to their website and liked what I saw so, our forum members have some good choices.

Thanks for the FYI

Thanks

It is a very good kit from another sports car enthusiast. It certainly is priced right and the instructions supplied make the hook up very easy. I give it a thumbs up. BTW, Warren's service is great. Ordered on Sunday, in my hands on Friday (Vet.'s day in way) installed on Saturday. Thanks for the ocmment.

After completing 2 automotive electrical classes in college I have mixed feelings about these "performance" grounding kits. Sure, the idea of what the kit is doing is solid (less resistance and a better connection to the frame/body, or a direct connection to the battery terminal will help the flow of electricity) but I'm not sure they provide the advertised results. One claim being made about them I have a major problem with is that they are supposed to "decrease stereo interference" (EMI). Heat shrink plastic around a wire will have little to no effect on EMI suppression or blockage. Wires that are designed to surpress EMI, i.e. spark plug wires, are coated in layers of rayon, Kevlar, neoprene, and other materials, granted they are carrying much higher voltage. But with that in mind, the steady flow of just 12v through ground wires isn't going to cause EMI. And EMI blockage is needed more in an electrical componant than the wires feeding power to and from it for proper opperation. Also, these expensive kits that use gold plated wires for "better conductivity" are a complete joke. Copper is a scientifically proven better conductor of electricity than gold. There are other problems as well, which I don't feel like getting into for the sake of the length of this post. However, these kits can provide more grounding points for a motor, and will withstand corrosion and damage better thanks to the plastic coating on their wires. So, yes they are better than stock, but I'm not sure they will produce any measurable results, unless they are replacing a damaged or worn out ground kit. Dynos vary run to run. A claim increase of 3-4 hp after a kit is installed might not have anything to do with the kit at all.
