I would go with Exhaust 1st. Borla seems to be the choice. Then, Canzoomer's Stage 1 Kit. I am not even going to mess with the air filter for now. If you want to get even more HP. Go with a midpipe (remove your cat). You can get 1 at RX7.com I order MOST of my parts from there for my 7 and they are VERY trustworthy. Then, you will be able to get Canzoomer's Stage 2 kit which will yield more HP then the Stage 1. Hope this helps man.

Recommened RX-8 upgrades...

Hi all,
I am just waiting for my new RX-8 to arrive with the dealer, and would like to add some bits'n'pieces to it. Any power upgrades would be great i.e exhaust/intake, but would like to know what you have and what is recomended. Also where can we get the Mazda buts from at lower prices?
Also is there any kind of running in or simply use as it will be used kind of thing?

Cheers

Sorry if I hurt some feelings but, you can install all that Should add ?? HP,( That is all CRAP)! If you put on every mod that has a claimed HP you'd make 1,000HP. Also I think some of you are fooled about your HP gain by putting on an exhaust or intake because of the sound. It sounds like it is going faster, hence you think you are accelerating faster. Ever heard a fart can rippin down a street, only to peer around a corner to see who is speeding down the road and he is barely gaining speed?
Honestly I do prefer a whisper quite exhaust over a noise maker. Why you may ask? To me after having a loud car (very nice idle tone and awesome when under load) The resonation in the car of a 3" exhaust does get a little annoying. But to me a quite car that can come out and wupp your *** is more appealing. Well what about the restriction? I have dyno'd straight pipes and quieter mufflers. Yes you do loss some HP but peak HP is not really important when only a few ponies are involved. Some of ya'll will learn that a nice smooth curve is more satisfiying. And besides just by being a little more diligent you can gain back that lost power should you desire, by more tuning!

Sniper: I have to admit, when I bought my car, I was concerned a lot of the aftermarket exhausts were going to sound like bad flatulence, but I want the Canzoomer stage 2 mod when it comes out, along with the Borla that Omicron has. Canzoomer has stated that Stage 2 runs better with the Borla and Omicron and RX8-friend had informed me that the sound was not much different from stock, save for a deeper note, so for some mods it is necessary to get and aftermarket exhaust, high flow cat and possibly intake. What I'd like to know is, if installing a resonator would impede the performance of Canzoomers mod and if the additional heat would kill it, that way you would have a total sleeper if a resonator were allowed.

Modifications

I am looking at installing a K&N cold intake and changing the chip to get more power. Has anyone done any engine modifications, and if so what kind of results did you get?

Question cheap parts, more horsepower

guys, and girls, I'm looking for inexpensive parts that will give me some extra horses for my RX-8. Also what's your opinion on Nitrous and Turbochargers that work well, and the car can withstand. Plus I can't find anyone who has parts listed for RX-8's so what cars match up to it to cross refernce, if any.

The car hasn't been out for very long, so there aren't that many parts available. Just browse the aftermarket section and you'll find a few things, like canzoomer's ecu mod.

Agree no good cheap parts out yet.. I am looking at the muffler to be honest... the Jap have a lot more research to those than the other country - is it surprising that the car is build in Japan??? I will only go for Jap stuff even tho they may cost a bit more. RE Amemiya exhaust is what I am looking at present. A$900 pre shipping

please examine the toolbar present at the top portion of every rx-8 club page. here you will find the main toolbar, which contains the 'search' button, which is right between calendar and faq buttons. use this and you will gain INFINITE knowledge of what is available for the rx-8 currently.

Some of you guys shoulg get some manners. Were you bullies all of your life or just when you gained knowledge from others after you asked some of the same questions early on?

On the other hand, I have also met some very helpful knowledgeable people on here too.

Be nice or don't post derogatory comments, please.

Not as funny as people like you who dont even have the car, but yet so emotionally avid on a forum devoted to it.

If im not mistaken, we were all newbs once as owners of the Rx8,which is why this forum is here.. so we can learn from each other.

Some of you so called forum experts (forum ******) need to understand were just not experts in sitting home all day, surfing the net and browsing.

Perhaps next time, instead of saying "search" with a rude smirk , give a fellow Rx8 owner a helping hand as you would want in return...

its not being rude.....think of it as tough love. although some people may take satisfaction in saying "search" with a rude smirk, that is probably the best piece of advice you can ever get on a forum. go to any other automotive forum and ask a stupid question and you shall receive the answer of 'please do a search.'

like i mentioned earlier, you can be the most knowlegable person on this board about the 8 if you just use the search function properly. most of the topics on the board are repeats of the same questions/threads. if you really feel like your question is important and cannot be answered with search, i suggest you hail rotarygod, he always has a simple yet thorough answer for most questions posed her on the board.
