Hm. Wondering if a AP tune'd tone down the flames or, if flames are guaranteed at all with aftermarket midpipes.

this is what happens when you take out a cat and put on a mid pipe

Lots of flames on NA renesis = better pourcentage of chances to ruin the apex and co. Doesn't mean it will kill it for sure, means you have more chances to.

As they do more result of a bad combustion than the pipe itself. Most of people tell "yeah it's really reliable and not dangerous for the engine !!!!" just after installing their mods cause the engine didn't explode at the first start, in facts, you know if that was a good mod or not 20000/25000 miles after generally.

I've had lots of flames in the past long ago, wipe them out with a friend's hymee pro tuner, but after 35000 kilometers, yeah, it really damaged my engine, i'll be rebuilding it soon and probably then make a streetport.

A good tune will mean less unburned fuel in the exhaust so less flames and better mileage. Post some before and after midpipe logs in the Cobb Datalogs thread.

lol i know that flames = unburnt fuel in the system, sorta like an afterburner in an aircraft, difference is they inject it into the exhaust on purpose.
thing is, i'm still trying to decide if flames = cool or not lol. had met this one corvette guy go to a shop trying to ask to shoot flames out of his exhaust lmao

Your driving habits will cut down on flames as well. Heavy right foot or high rpm shifting will get you flames. A good tune will lean it out and leave less excess gas to be burnt off later.

what? The pipe doesn't change the tune. It's rich from the factory. A midpipe will not change this, or cause engine failure. The reason there are flames with a midpipe are because there is no cat to collect the unburnt fuel. It in no way changes the combustion in the engine. The rear 02 sensor does nothing as far as engine management is concerned. If you've blown apex seals, you have other problems, it has nothing to do with your exhaust.

Just wanted to re-state this.

This should come with every midpipe in the box and every midpipe/flame thread.

It also gets the ladies. It does not protect against VD though.
