FD Ignition Coils

Does anybody have any experience with using FD Ignition Coils in RX-8's? If so, how do they work, how do they fit, etc? I'm considering replacing my coils, and a friend has a spare coil set laying around from an FD that he'd let me have for cheap. So... any advice would be great. If it's not that good, I'm thinking of probably going with BHR's coils.

Just an FYI, the FD guys swap their coils out for FC ones due to better spark/life.

BHR is not a bad choice either I've had mines since April , and I'm not a daily driver , nor Turbo or even Nitrous, I will be selling the car and eventually parting out everything I have soon so , if your interested in the BHR ignition kit pm me nd its yours for a fair price

misfire, try again .... all coils are not created equal

PS: through a set of high compression pistons in there too while you're at it

The FC and FD coils are waste sparked on the leading. That means that both leading plugs fire at the same time. The FD coils aren't the best, but they are more reliable than the Rx-8 coils... they should be good to 350-400rwhp with an HKS Twin Power amplifier. But I don't think you could make them work on an Rx-8 easily.

The trailing plugs are controlled individually, but the FC and FD trigger them differently. The FC is particularly weird. It has a "select" signal, basically an on/off switch (square wave) where "ON" corresponds to one plug and "OFF" corresponds to the other.

The Rx-8 ignition system is actually a much better system design, but the components are not reliable.

Thanks for the responses guys. I'll probably go with BHR then. I have a friend that has an extra set of FD coils, so if they were compatable I figured I would give it a whirl.
