hey boose! i have recently been suffering from the same delima as you. i decided ill be running the new style rp supercat midpipe with the rear flange nipped. in its place will be a vibrant resonator followed by 3" tubing to the diff. i will put a universal flange there and a flange and reducer on the stock exhaust. (i know how the fuzz is in va believe me man) with this set up i can run the stock axel back daily and im going for a apexi ws2 or tanabe medallion single muffler axel back for the track. i would suggest that if you get into the midpipe you run a davesport or supercat because i know they are smog testing up in your neck of the woods now. anyway... if you can hold out a couple weeks you can hear the setup in person when we swap trunks lolzies!

Check out the Greddy SP2.. thats what I have, been running for over a year and no problems from the cops. Gives a nice, deep tone when revving, yet is perfectly tame and quiet when not. However, I have noticed if you do alot of highway driving that there is a decent amount of droan when going about 75 MPH. Just something to look into, and the muffler outlets fit the stock holes in the 8's rear bumper perfectly.

All I will say is that if you go with the HKS Hi-Power single exit, be careful which mid-pipe you combine it with as it can/most likely will be loud as hell.

If your going to go GReddy spend the couple extra bucks and get the SE. Its better quality and the SE is a newer exhaust. I did alot of research before I bought mine.

I love the sound and tone from Greddy sp2 and my agency power midpipe. But as they had said above i think the SE is the new version ans sp2 is discontinued.
I am curently testing out the raceroots single tip. It is loud with midpipe but I'm sure with the catalytic conv. It would have a very nice note to it. Its at a fair price as well.

Check out the TurboXS:

http://www.turboxs.com/item.php?ID=218

I had one on for a little bit, and am torn about it. On one hand, it sounds amazing and is very affordable for a header-back system. The tips are a perfect size and angle cut for the rear bumper - really cleans up the rear appearance. Looked to be very high quality as well, full stainless with excellent welds all around.

On the other hand, that amazing sound comes at a price - it is VERY VERY LOUD WITH THE INCLUDED RACE PIPE. Sorry for yelling, but you need to - droned like hell inside the car, unfortunately. I tried mounting the catback system, but even with a fresh gasket it wouldn't bolt up right because of the difference in pipe sizes.. This is a shame, because I test ran it like this and it sounded great. Nice tone at idle, and noticeable change without being too raucous. Leaking exhaust isn't cool though...

Anyway, what I should have done, and what I would recommend doing is running the TurboXS with a dual res midpipe - I'm confident it would sound bad-fcking-***.

Anybody have input on the Racing Beat compared to the Agency Power exhausts?
I plan on keeping my stock cat in place so I'm aware that this will affect the sound of both, but I'm looking for a sound louder than stock, but not a fart can. I like that deeper cleaner sound. Not the high pitched ricey sound. Been searching youtube, but sounds clips are so hard to judge. With the stock cat, which of these 2 exhausts would give me the sound I'm looking for?

i have the agency power catback. sounds great. i love it. my friends love it. it's not annoyingly loud but it's super aggressive. went on youtube and looked up the greddy se and they sound almost the same imo. but that was just a youtube video. i have yet to hear one in person. i also really like the burnt tips, but i know some people aren't really into those. the only problem with the AP exhaust is that some people (me included) have had trouble with the tips melting the exhaust shrouds.

well i havent posted in here in a while ive been away haha but summer is closing in and i think i might be getting the greddy se i just have to get some good examples of sound and stuff cuz for one i still live with my parents and they arent the most accepting of people escpecially when it comes to my car they hate me doin things to it lol but i do it anyway my list for the summer is exhaust, rims, tinted windows, and to try to get my interior fixed :/ everything is popping out of the little sockets i need to get it fixed it pisses me off and secondly the cops but i think ill be fine with what im thinkin of getting and third most important is money i really need a second job cuz the one job i have pays great in the summer but winter it sucks bad :/
