exhaust rpm activated cut-out?
Hi, I saw some threads here on the forum about the 8 with an exhaust cut-out but not like I'm thinking. some people claims to have over 10hp+ (after cat) with this cut out (there's a thread with expired dyno pics i couldn't see  ) but from what I've seen/read/researched and my piston knowledge keeping it open will kill your low-end tq. <- the why i dont do straight pipe besides the annoying sound
I've been thinking about placing one before cat (working on the design) RPM activated @ ~4500rpm so its completely open at 5krpm+ and keep that extra power :fingersx: and sound :shocking: . The flames are covered for now, since I know there's going to be lots... the "system"will be something more like the boosted (psi activated) cut-out, without boost. Anyone done this before? thoughts? Hints/Ideas? tnx SM |
kind of like this??
I dont like any type of back pressure in the exhaust.. so i wouldnt do it.. i like the last line in your sig btw. |

(basically the same thing but with something like a QTP in front of the cat) I checked that one as one of the options but for it to work like I want (imo, correct me if I'm wrong) would need to be straight pipe and when closed I think it may be smaller smaller than the hem exhaust which might do more backpressure than the catalytic. Ps. I don't want to get into the backpressure science, I've been a lot of time reading/researching about it :) As for the straight pipe setup, I tried it just without muffler (oem exhaust/midpipe) and was to loud, kinda like "come at me cop" loud lol. not my type for street car (constant sound) thanks again! Every comment is welcomed. SM |
