Exhaust loudness - high fllow cat vs.

Is a high flow cat without a resonator or a resonated catless mid-pipe louder? Of course with the same catback.

Optical TDI 08-20-2008 08:25 PM

Has anyone experienced both a high flow cat vs. a resonated mid pipe? Which one is quieter with the same catback?

StealthTL 08-20-2008 09:03 PM

Straight pipe is loud - resonator(s) can cut it nicely.

Cat or catless is a different problem.......

Jedi54 08-20-2008 09:25 PM

high flow car is nice because it's not too loud

mysql 08-20-2008 09:58 PM

the resonator on my b&b catless midpipe didn't really do squat.

if you get a muffler and have it welded into your midpipe, your results would be quite a bit different.

Razz1 08-20-2008 10:13 PM

^ agreed go with High flow for less noise.

Jedi54 08-20-2008 10:25 PM

you are learning my young padawan, you are learning.

NgoRX8 08-20-2008 10:33 PM

rp supercat ftw!

Nemesis8 08-20-2008 11:21 PM

From: RP Supercat + Racing Beat REV8 = Higher Midtone Sound level 6 to: Mazsport Dual Resonated Midpipe + Modified Racing Beat REV8 = Lower DeepTone Sound Level 4.

mysql 08-20-2008 11:24 PM

in a few weeks I should have something interesting to share on this topic :)

I know, I'm slack at getting pics up. This weekend when the Sun comes out you shall see. ;)

Jedi54 08-20-2008 11:35 PM

you're gonna make us wait till Sun???

Nemesis8 08-20-2008 11:36 PM

It's raining pretty good up here in the Real Sasquatch land - but Saturday the Sun comes out to play for a day. We missed our Summer it seems.

NgoRX8 08-20-2008 11:38 PM

Damn You!!!

Nemesis8 08-20-2008 11:40 PM

I teased a pic somewhere off my crappy camera phone. I'll post some hi res soon.

Jedi54 08-20-2008 11:42 PM

we're waiting....

Senna 08-20-2008 11:54 PM

I have the MS catback and RB race pipe and it's extremely loud. The car is mostly a track car so it works great for me. If it's a daily I'd recommend a hi-flow cat.

kersh4w 08-21-2008 02:08 AM

really? cause im getting the race pipe for the turboxs. right now i just have the catback on and its already too loud in my taste. although i think its pretty acceptable with the silencers put on in the tips. without those silencers though.... i feel like some punk in a civic...

Nemesis8 08-21-2008 09:39 PM

T4 Teaser

Jedi54 08-21-2008 09:43 PM

holy smokes Nemesis!!!!

Jon316G 08-21-2008 09:47 PM

Nice Nemesis!
The more I look at it, the more I like it.
Makes the back-end look cleaner.

NgoRX8 08-21-2008 10:03 PM

that thing is crazy!

mysql 08-21-2008 10:04 PM

looks awesome.

I wouldn't want it though. I'd be worried about the first time I go to get some pizza, it would be broken up and in pieces all over the sidewalk.

NgoRX8 08-21-2008 10:07 PM

it definitely looks pretty low and i can see it being an issue.

Nemesis8 08-21-2008 10:10 PM

I linked a bigger pic in this thread

Razz1 08-21-2008 10:13 PM

ha Ha... I'd bottom those thing out all the time and then snap them off over the Aprons at the track.

Ah... man yyou could have linked us to the page and not the 1st page of that thread.

Jedi54 08-21-2008 10:13 PM

yeah, they look low but with thsoe coilove set to full stiff, that could save you.

NgoRX8 08-21-2008 10:15 PM

Jedi54 08-21-2008 10:17 PM

Nemesis8 08-21-2008 10:19 PM

well, it's not just bumps. as long as the bumps aren't 3 inches it looks like it'd be fine. but any steep driveway may pose a problem.

I still like it though. that rear bumper looks clean too.

Jedi54 08-21-2008 10:19 PM

what prompted the change Nem? just got bored? :D:

NgoRX8 08-21-2008 10:20 PM

Nemesis, Sound CLIP!!!!

Nemesis8 08-21-2008 10:21 PM
